    I would assume this is the event details copied from the Events Section , sounds good to me , hope it's a success . Third Summer Music presents afternoon soul sessions every single Wednesday at The Lower Turks Head, a wonderful heritage pub in the centre of Manchester. In addition to sets from our regular soul spinners, Open Decks slots are available for anyone who wants to bring some records down! (Bringing your own cartridges preferred but not mandatory; digital decks + laptop also available) 2pm til 8pm every Wednesday, followed by our open mic night

    Sounds a relaxed sort of way to spend a boring Wednesday if you're retired or off work take a few of your faves along which people may not know and play em to the crowd. Hope it's a success needs something outside the box.

    Was not the greatest final for the purists but a fascinating tactical battle to watch which I enjoyed but thought the longer the game went on City would eventually wear them down , but credit to Inter for fighting back and unlucky not to score late on . And well done to City for the treble never look likely after the World Cup but fight to the end is no more apt than for this achievement .

    If anyone is interested who has not got BT Sport's and are not aware the Man City v Inter Milan game tonight is been shown on YouTube live at 8 pm.

    I think trying to help a team not to be relegated is totally different from not taking action against teams that tried to join a super league. But we will beg to differ so no point debating any further, but good luck to Leicester in their quest back the Premier League.

    I suppose Newcastle are now in the top 7 but before the new owners they bounced up and down the divisions like Zebedee but now they have protection from relegation ! surely you do not believe that .

    You could be right but the comparison I was trying to make was you posting that Spurs would not be allowed to be relegated because who they are and the premier league etc would help them avoid that however crap Spurs were.

    The Man City fans were saying the premier league, var the refs would deny City the League and the F.A. cup that did not work out .

    Least we know Mr Bailey recorded in lots of guises in the 70s I am rubbish at recognising voices unless they are like Womack, Stubbs , Ruffin etc. but the Bailey 70s tracks all have a light feel to his vocals something that cannot be said about Chuck Wood.

    Best of luck to City and West Ham , be nice to see 2 English clubs bring the trophies back .

    It is no good rebuilding when the wall is down , Ferguson and now Guardiola seem to re tweak every season and keep the players on their toes , Klopp has let them go stale and they seem run into the ground with his style of play , some serious money to spend on the midfield in particular. Whatever people say about City's spending it has been money well spent not like the millions that have been thrown at Chelsea and only get no reward.

    The first time I saw the photo of Chuck Wood I was surprised because he only looks about 17 in the photo where as the vocalist sounds more mature and given that JR was born In 1937 his age at the time of ''Seven days" seems more in keeping with the record . Whoever the artists were one thing for sure Mr Bailey was a talented individual whose talent at least hit some paydirt with his songwriting in the 70s.

    Interesting topic , hopefully a answer one day I do think that the photo of Chuck Wood is not J.R. Bailey as for the vocals I will take Kev Robert's version of events as he is the only one to have any dealings with anyone involved in the recordings.

    To make a bit easier for your friends I would start looking at the weekly Blues And Soul issues they were the ones I held onto after getting rid of all the others and the ones i think had a menion of J.R Bailey on the cover indicating a article inside hope i have not started a wild goose chase . The weekly ones did not run for long maybe a year .

    Be very interested to find the truth behind all those different recordings and if Jr Bailey was responsible for them , seem to recall a interview/ article in Blues and Soul at the time of his 70s lp which I would have thought would give some details of his past recording etc. sadly I binned all mine years ago. Strange that a artist such as J.r. who had a long career using his real name as a artist ,songwriter, producer and also a member of The Cadillacs has little information on the web about him .

    Nothing to add about who Jr Bailey was but the picture that posted of Chuck Wood was also published with great clarity in the book '' The In Crowd '' . Got to add though if Jr Bailey is half the singers he is purported to be he was a mighty fine singer with a great range and also a very busy one with his songwriting, production and background work and also his solo work.

    Al Capone was also a big fairground sound in the late sixties/ early seventies, great memories of the fair walking round the fair wearing Dr Martens, .Braces Fred Perry.and cropped hair etc. with the music playing and the smells of the food vendors.

    Shotgun Wedding was always played at the fair around my area , knowing the fair lads reputation with the ladies back in the day maybe a precautionary message been sent

    Saw her in Sheffield 1984 she was brilliant and a night to remember for ever. Heard '' Dust My Broom '' in the local the other night which was a surprise , great record. R.I.P. Tina.

    Just to add I have come across a few covers of Blues and Soul on the net early seventies which state American edition includes Stars and Stripes and on others it stated the price of the two mags separately, probably muddied the waters more I know could it be they were sold separately in the states at one time and then just amalgamated for the U.S editions

    Would prefer if they were left as they are , they are the work of the creators the producers etc. thousands of records at the right tempo to go at.
