I will interested to see how many turn up to see the concert at the Sheffield City Hall I have seen numerous acts there over the years including Marvin Gaye, Temps, Four Tops, Edwin Starr,Jr Walker, Maze amongst others and most were not that well attended. Hopefully a flop and that idea will be put to bed before it really gets started.

What would the green first issue be worth ? I know nothing to go on if none have come up for sale recently, but a rough idea

Certainly, I bought a copy early seventies at a local record shop never thought it was anything other than a boot, the shop used to stock loads of boots such as James Bounty, and Eddie etc. Surprised there was much doubt about the small archer stamped one.

Female artist from me now , strangely I have not really bought female records in anywhere near the quantity of male stuff but strangely if I was to pick my top lps they would do well Doris Duke the 2 Millie Jackson Caught Up sagas , Jean Carn. But the one I would say is my favourite is Barbara Lynn a very consistent artist and great songs with thought provoking lyrics The first record heard by her by me - This beauty

Cheap too , I love his version of "Rome Wasn't Built In A Day" on Sar. From Sar to Malaco the man was outstanding , sadly missed.

Couple to go at,got loads of artists who I anticipated their new releases and bought these two stick in my mind because they answer both questions , first record and fave artists Changes - Johnnie Taylor Trying To Live My Life Without You - Otis Clay

Great record in its day but was played out in the early seventies, and so out of vogue now I would have thought , if I heard it out now it would be a groan from me.

I would have thought the drill hole was the easier way to identify deletions for no return , gold paint splodge on a record seems to be a laborious way to do it even on few records never mind thousands.

Why is it that a lot of average pop singers are getting a lot of air time on Soul Source lately ? There is enough real soul music from America to keep me i going for the rest of my life without having to check out the likes of Texas even if it is recorded at Muscle Shoals, Soul it ain't.

Look at the film clip to the new Chicken Run movie Levanna has uploaded to Tic Tok some nice spins and things at the end of the routine from the chicken. It will have some spitting feathers and clucking.

Great track, some nice midtempo tracks on the lp too including the one below.

Songwriters signed to contracts, producers and arrangers signed to Contracts, Artists and the musicians all signed to contracts , so I would assume they were left to make music and then the powers that be decided which tracks made it to singles then to the lp tracks. Does seem a lot of great tracks never made it to record but it would be cheaper to can any tracks that the production control thought not suitable for release than to take a punt and put them into production and incur the cost of pressing the records , distribution and promotion only to be left in the deletion bins. And we probably do not appreciate how many records were be released in Detroit on umpteen labels alone every week during the Motown golden years, the record buyers had a treasure trove of soul music to buy but only so much money to spend.
