  1. Didn't realise this CD was already out Ady!! (I'm a bit slow!) Just ordered one for my enjoyment Thanks very muchly
  2. Filthy Great minds think alike Paul
  3. Yeah, and I bet the tool was raw if you didn't take it out of the sand
  4. This is a bit cheeky (well in my mind anyway lol) but when I hear Dean Parrish's "Bricks, Broken Bottles, & Sticks", a song that I absolutely adore, but it also makes me chuckle as it sounds like he's mixing semen, water & sand (when he's really mixing cement, water & sand) Love the song with a passion, but the way he pronounces cement cracks me up every time (good job it's near the end of the song!)
  5. Ah right, I understand that Kev, makes perfect sense now The "best" years of my soul life were from 87 to 95, ....... then 96 to 2003 were pretty good as well, then 2004 to 2008 were good, and 2009 to now, still has it's moments, but overall I think I'm past it now Hope I bump into you & the lads before I retire for good Take care & bye for now Ali x
  6. You know I had that same thought the other day Matt, but couldn't really comment as I didn't get into the Soul All-nighters until 1987 (I was into Soul via the Mod scene before then) For me, it was underground in 87, but from the stories I've heard about Wigan especially, it seemed there were coach trips from all over the country going, blimey we were lucky if we could fill a train carriage (& I mean the really old train carriages that hold about 4!! lol)
  7. Hey DP Sorry to hear you've been poorly, glad you're feeling better What a great & straight to the point post Hopefully see you soon, without your pyjamas (but I don't mean naked!) I mean in your daytime/night-time clothes out somewhere. Until then, take care fella Ali xxx
  8. It is a blumming risky title !!! ............... I thought it was a Handbag sale , gutted to find that it's just about Soul
  9. Hi Roy Wouldn't be the first time More like mass vomiting if they saw my bloomers See you both in October ? Ali x
  10. .... & these chin strokers have found & introduced a lot of the music that now graces the main stream decks. Long live the chin strokers I say !!! (sorry Des I like the term )
  11. I actually like the term Chin Stroker, to me, it puts them in a different class (& I'm by no means a snob), and these days, I'd much rather spend an evening talking to a chin stroker, learning about the music, than doing cart wheels across the floor (only cos I can't do cart wheels anymore) but hey what does this handbagger know Ali x
  12. Is Lowton finishing?!!!! I knew they should have kept that Modern Room going (Only kidding, before anyone jumps in, & shoots me down in flames) What a great shame Aid
  13. I think that's a different website ..... not that I'd know which website of course
  14. Well it looks like you're stuck with me then Just ignore my negative comment earlier, I was being silly, I've never left the scene, & I never will
  15. Great pic of me & your other half? or me & an "other" half. Either way, I don't think it's me, not sure where Plinston is (sorry I'm a thick Northerner, & I don't think it's up here) You might be getting me mixed up with Ang Barnes who's now with Steve from Plymouth,Portsmouth,Southampton .... somewhere boaty People are often getting us mixed up, lovely girl who I class as my Sis, and is much better at getting jiggy in public than I am x
  16. He's still a smarmy git though Ali x
  17. Hi there It was that one The grittiness of the documentary had me hooked, his journey at the tender age of 62 is something else though when his neighbour from the Projects commented on him making it into the New York Post with "Keep the Faith & never stop believing" I thought I can't flipping get away from this Northern Soul Insanity
  18. I don't think it is Byrney, I've just checked it on my iphone, and it's all greyed out
  19. It certainly was I cried at the Marvin Gaye one, and then I cried at the Charles Bradley one after (tears of happiness for Charles ) The Marvin one was obviously extremely sad but a MUST watch Cheers for the heads up
  20. Awww that's really nice of you Pete, cheers Yeah the keeping in touch with family & friends (abroad in my case) is one good thing about Face Book, so they're stuck with me on there as well
  21. Pete - I keep away from Fake Book as much as I can, but after seeing the Face Book Soul Warriors jump on here, blowing "Bloomer gate" out of all proportion without reading the full topic (like you have pointed out) I took a peek on Fake Book & couldn't believe the clap trap I read (& they call people on here keyboard warriors! don't make me laugh!) This thread has been a diplomatic one, with only one post I found offensive towards Pete & Susan, and I stuck up for them, as did a lot of other Soul Sourcers. The young lad who called everyone barstewards really should have done his homework before following the Fake Book Sheep and assuming that Soul Sourcers were out to get them. This has been an awful week for the soul scene, in my opinion, & if it wasn't for the Marvin Gaye & Charles Bradley documentary last night, I'd be doing an Eddie Parker Regards Ali x
  22. .... & Steve is one of the nicest & genuine blokes on this scene, & wouldn't have meant anything malicious by it. I know Pete & Susan too, they're fabulous, but even I chuckled at the bloomers. I'm sure Susan doesn't give two hoots what people think about her pantaloons, as she wouldn't be putting them on show in the first place, if she did. I personally feel she was having a giggle with us & I commend her for it. Regards Ali x
  23. I completely agree Winnie about being harsh on Pete & Susan. Their scene is different to the scene that I was brought up on, and I admire their passion. I personally don't have that strong passion anymore, I still have soul in my blood (gosh that sounds really cheesy lol) I just don't feel the need to have a soul weekend every weekend like I used to. Like I said on the other thread, the programme didn't reflect the whole scene, which was fine in my book, as some things are best kept a secret & as underground as possible 4 out of 5 from me. Soundtrack was obviously superb :o)) Regards Ali x
