  1. Absolutely brilliant that Barry (Legends Ball) My gosh so much talent in the one place. Awesome voices. Very moving it was. Thanks for posting it. Ali x P.S. The Yolanda Adams clip is beautiful too but my she's got a right set of gnashers on her!! Now that would have been scarey on Halloween
  2. Yes the "Mighty Bub" was a fantastic character that the scene still misses today. I remember at one Cleethorpes he was due to do his spot, entered the room with a massive record box & announced to us all over the mike not to get too excited as the box didnt contain any records ..... just his lunch !! Brilliant guy!! Ali x P.S Back on topic .... I'm from Leeds !!
  3. Panic over !! You've re-edited it while I was typing my reply .... thanks ..... now its just me who looks a tw@t but that's fine .... I'm used to it ...... you're still a little scouser tho Ali x
  4. Phil !!!! your editing techniques has made it look like I used to strap it under my knackers!! (bet you did that on purpose...u little scouser ) Oh & before you ask .....I'm not telling you where I used to hide mine !! Ali x
  5. When I used to frequent the Bradford Queens Hall Nighters in the late 80's they used to search your bags & holdalls on the way in, not for Beer, Drugs or Weapons ..... but for talcum powder !!! I think it was a combination of playing havoc with the sound system & the massive clear up the morning after. It was quite funny & bizarre seeing all the bottles of confiscated talc lined up in the reception area. For me, occasionally a little bit of talc is needed but the above amount is just obscene & the perpetrater should have had their nose rubbed in it!! Ali x
  6. Hey Swish Please doooo try write another. Damn, wish I was going now, if only, to try get in one of your wonderful poems & of course to say a big hello to you in person Hope you have a great night on Saturday. Take care & bye for now Ali x
  7. I agree it is good live by MB but I've already cast my vote. I've got a feeling Diane Brooks wont come out top after seeing your live clip but its ok cos I'm used to being in the minority ATB Ali x
  8. I would have said Evie Sands but after taking the "Picture me gone" challenge at home in front of my laptop I have to say that, for me, Diane Brooks is a lovely version - so I've changed my vote to Diane Brooks .... Hope she gets through to the next round!! ATB Ali x
  9. Yes there certainly would be I love RnB,Popcorn-I think (tho Im not quite sure what that is ) & Latin. There's not much I wont open my auditory system to apart from Ragga or Jungle (sorry-its not for me). Anyway Webby there you go again - OFF TOPIC!! The topic is Northern Soul,Modern Soul,Funk,Soulful House so stick to your original question trouble otherwise I'll get you barred !! Ali x
  10. They certainly did !!! Rhiiiiino's !! Champions!!! Oops gone off topic. Webby you led me into that trap u little tinker!! Back on topic - now I've ended up in here by default I personally like ALL of the above genres of music & at certain times, depending on my mood or where I am in my life, prefer one more than the other but at the end of the day, for me, they all have a place in my cardiovascular system!! Cheerio Ali x
  11. Swish Its not a crap arrogant poem & I bet most of us can relate to aspects of it from our youth. My youth was little after yours but I still had the attitude & always thought MY way was the right way & couldnt get my head round the "NORMAL" people at work wantin to go out, get pissed, fight, cop off at the end of the night (2am for them divs ) & get a kebab on the way home. Now I just accept everyone for what they are, who they are & how they chose to live their lives - just like they now accept me & my "WEIRD" ways Your poem is a perfect insight into your youth & you dont need to apologise for what you were feeling 30+ years ago Brilliant - keep em coming please ATB Ali x
  12. Chuffin ell - you're keen Thurs 18/3 - Mon 22/3 (they've changed the dates to those originally advertised) Cant help you out with the October dates I'm afraid (& I bet you're gonna say those are the dates you wanted !! ). Ali x

  14. Sunburst band eh ? The wee fella has got taste! Taste in music that is .... not in women !!! xx
  15. Bet there's a few guys on here who'd like to see Emily's box !!! .... maybe not

  17. 110th Street !!! xx
  18. I agree !! not about annoying your hubby mind. It was harmless fun in the Rovers tonight (or so Lloyd is going to say in the morning!) Made my boring night a bit more exciting Good on you Corrie !! xx
  19. Oooops !! I posted something in Freebasing cos it was Corrie. Didnt realise someone could multi-task quicker than me. I thought it was quite good actually...... but I am a big corrie fan anyway. Oldies for Oldies.
  20. Hello Swish Long time no see. You probably wont remeber me but I'm from Leeds & used to pal around with Karen Mahoney & Dave Ripley. You may have seen me round at Tony Colebys (when he lived in Roundhay) & mistaken me for his great grand-daughter (lets hope Tony reads this !!) I've just read the previous thread & Im simply moved by your poetry & I certainly hope that you do publish a book. Good luck with everything Swish. Keep us posted lots of love & best wishes Alison xxx
  21. What postal strike ? That is a very good & valid point Pete thanks. I should have thought of that especially as our bin men have been on strike for about 6 weeks & its causing various problems (no rats tho!!) I'll ring Manifesto next week if I havent heard anything. Thanks for the info Pete Ali x P.S. I hope your daughters card & cheque from her grandad turn up soon. Good luck P.P.S. Actually that reminds me. I sent a christmas card last year to a friend in Bolton (early Dec) & I was gutted when they didnt get it as I'd spent a fiver on it (which is a lot for a Yorkshire bird to spend on a christmas card!) & it was lovely, to her taste & specially picked by me. Well there was light at the end of the tunnel. She did receive it ..... in June this year!! ! so I hope your daughter gets hers much sooner than that !! ATB Ali x
  22. Me too !! I've subscribed since the "Polly days" If yours hasnt been banked & mine hasn't I suspect they anticipated problems hence maybe holding on to our cheques rather than bank them before their ship was in order & really pxssing us off. In the past Ive seen them selling at Prestatyn so Im gonna wait until theyre back next week then give em a call. Hope this helps Ali xx P.S Dave Taylor - if you read this & they are at Prestatyn will you pick me one up ! & I'll re-imburse you when I see ya. Cheers mate
  23. Hi Arthur Has your cheque been banked yet ? I sent off beginning of September for my latest renewal subscription and my cheque hasnt been banked yet. In a way I wish it had then I'd know they'd definitely owed me one. I have had problems in the past & it is a chaotic system but they have always sorted things out for me in the end so I'd bear with them a little longer if you can. Im sure its all in hand. Well I hope it's all in hand. ATB Ali x
  24. Aaw Jayne - you're such a sweetie - thanks. I feel quite bad now trivilialising my post with a joke especially after reading Sean's post about the whole community being affected, job losses etc. Its not a laughing matter & I didnt think. I'll spread the word & get more signatures for you. Good luck with this Jayne Ali x
