  1. Oh dear I'm still asking questions on that thread
  2. Spot on Malc I still bump into Adrian from time to time, always have kittens when I see him & no doubt bore him to death about what a massive impact BQH (Both HWSC & Afterdark) had on my life. Would love to see Crofty again too. Is he still about ? I did scroll back but apart from the fantastic flyers & finding out what jumpers & cardi's Steve liked it didn't give me all the information I wanted but I've got that now so am a very happy old lady Ali x
  3. Excuse my complete ignorance Chalky but who is Chris Plant? As you are a man in the know can you give me a brief bullet point of who ran the nighters at the Queens Hall & the years they ran them. I am amazed as I didnt realise they went as far back as the early 80's & this really interests me. Cheers
  4. So was After Dark before HWSC ? Was Crofty something to do with HWSC as well. If so Blimey he had his fingers in all the pies didnt he ?
  5. Webby I've just spotted you !! Tried to keep it quiet  Poor Jacqui & Jill x
  6. Interesting. I didn't know that Paul. I thought they ran 3 nighters Bradford,Hinkley & Burnley but saying that it was a VERY long time ago & I was only nipper so a bit dim when it came to the other nighters as Bradford was my world at that time x
  7. I'll have a go Chalky. Now where did I put those flyers Only kidding I know where some of them are. Give me a couple of days
  8. Phil Can you give me a quick history lesson please. I remember you & Jackie enticing me away from the Mod Scene by giving me a flyer for BQH at the Warehouse that Pat Brady used to run on a Thursday night in Leeds. I think this was 87. How long had nighters at the Queens Hall been running before then ? It was HWSC (which I believe was you) who also ran the nighters in Hinkley & Burnley (remember when my friend fell down the steps in that Burnley Sports Hall ) I'm just interested to know who ran what from when. I dont need to know the ins & outs or whether there was any rivalry or under hand tactics. It doesn't concern me too much as my glory days were both HWSC nighters & the After Dark ones (Crofty) but I'm interested to know what happened before my time, if you know that. Cheers A very interested & curious lady x P.S. I always got told off at school for asking too many questions as well
  9. Well thats why then. I was still at School, still a mod & the £2 would have been my pocket money for the whole month Cheers for the info Chalky
  10. Great flyer Chalky It has the look of some of the flyers I have from Queens Hall but I cant remember there being that rare 60's night downstairs. Mind you if it's from the mid 80's that's when I didnt move from my spot to the left of the stage where I hung around with my wonderful geordie mates & my great friends from Hull.
  11. Stop trying to shxt stir Mr Webb I was an upstairs dancer from 87 to about 91 and it was rammed everytime Then I ventured downstairs & had equally good times down there BOTH rooms were packed out with dancers, just the way it should have been
  12. Wow ! I can't remember seeing that flyer & I cant remember it starting at 10.00 nor being £2 in It must have been well before my time. Phild do you have any idea of the time this flyer went to print ? Thanks for posting it

  14. Yes it does ........ who are you by the way ? x Can't disagree there x
  15. Hi Dave It's me again Is having the Wilton on a Saturday completely out of the question ? as I do feel this would attract more people & suit most peoples work schedules. Blimey I've just realised that you guys can pat yourselves on the back, again, for running the longest nighter, in the North, on a FRIDAY !!! I could be wrong, but I don't think anyone else, anywhere else in the world (ok I'm being rather dramatic) can beat 18 years for a Friday nighter ??? Just an idea Ali x
  16. Hi Dave & Mouse I don't think you'll have any problem filling the Wilton on the 18th March as it always brings people out of the woodwork, and rightly so, I just wish some of the attendees would make it more than annually but I guess times have changed and people don't have as much money to throw around plus they have responsibilities also there's more allnighters & weekenders then ever before I don't know the answer as to why the Wiltons of the last 12 months haven't been as busy as previous but I do feel the timing of Fridays straight after the christmas break was a contributing factor as to why it wasn't the packer we had hoped for. Socially I loved Fridays Wilton but musically, for me, there was too much mid-tempo & unknown stuff. Whilst this is great for the many d.j's that were there as punters (it was like a ruddy d.j convention on Friday ) the dancers need to go away satisfied & I personally didnt. I'm not knocking ANY of the d.j's as they all have fabulous collections and should be allowed to play them but, for me, it would have been better balancing their sets with some floorfillers too I know you as promoters have no control over this but if any d.j's for the future Wilton's reads this pleaaaase mix it up so us dancers can go away satisfied as well you collectors. I do agree with Chalkys idea of moving the current location of the record dealers , but maybe not for 18th March as I know this will be a packer I didn't even venture up that end on Friday so missed out on giving Pikey's Dog a big fat hug & a few others (weren't they the lucky ones) 18 years !!!!! the Wilton has been going so please Dave & Mouse, don't despair. No other nighter in the North can claim that title & whilst everyone may be excited about new nighters & weekenders starting as it's all fresh you have to remember you have been there & done it & I'm not sure many of the new breed will be saying that in 18 years, 10 years or even 5!!. You'll get through this dip so please don't give up. 18th March will not be problem, the anniversaries never are, you need to concentrate on the ones after & with everyone's help you will get the numbers back at the Wilton Hope this post helps but if not charge me double in March Ali x Who's keeping her faith in the Wilton
