  1. Another Nev Wherry play, along with Sam and Richard, i seem to recall, i think Johnny Manship may have the truth on origin on this one (he's getting bit old now), Sorry John! Come on John, give us the load down on this disc, i know it came from you. Nev told me. Bless. Andy K
  2. Agreed. Andy K.
  3. Is it that thing on a pale green/blue label, flip "Tonight's the Night?
  4. Now you see how time clouds the memory! I was at that All-Dayer, and could have sworn that the last record he played was Lainie Hill "Time Marches On" Kev Draper may have been there also, Kev, any recollection? Andy K
  5. Only for you Phil, Its too sacred for the masses just yet. The contessa, "i need you baby" again, just for you only at this time. You just need to ask. Our new cohort, need to discover them for them selves.
  6. Okay here we go again, How many times have we talked about this in the past fifteen years? Here goes.... Rare soul vinyl will always increase in value at least to the rate of inflation. If you have an ear for sounds, then you will buy accordingly and be ahead of the curve. Supply is limited, but popularity is increasing, it always, will. New geographies etc. A cross spread collection will always outstrip the normal rate of alternative investments. For high growth, you need the ear for unknown, under rated discs. Prices will never fall (forget about the death / checking out debate), it wont' even register on the demand curve. Sure there will moments when discs become available. But its not going to ever be a bust of prices. Too many dealers around to buy up short term surplus and manage the supply as such. All clear??? Andy Killick
  7. A fair point Ian, but it clearly is a rip of the song, and they must have known it. Why didn't they just sort a royalty payment upfront and all sorted, then everyones a winner. Ego and greed maybe?
  8. It is actually a very rare record.
  9. The New Wanderers is by far and way the rarer of the two. Let Me Render My Service is the side, so so soulful. Eddie Parker is great, but New Wanderers edges every time for me, just so much more complete. Andy Killick
  10. I can't see it, has he taken it down?
  11. Kev, do you have the correct website address, just tried and its coming up 'not found"? Cheers.
  12. Yes, and.... by a very very long way.
  13. I don't think anyone is going to be able to read that flyer. Do you have a larger one you could post?
  14. The other label design does also has an issue format with "Closer" on the flip.
  15. Is it that Bell Sound acetate credited to the Epsilons (The Philly group)? If so came from V Shivley via J Anderson circa, god, must have 10 years ago now, when he was still down at Kings Lynn, I had it offered to me at the time, passed on it, one of my great regrets!!
  16. Exactly my point. If a seller wont add value at nominal amount ($10). Then I would say unless its a super expensive piece, its often not bothering with ebay anymore. For example on a $40 record..... postage extra $13 makes $53, customs UK reads $53 as £53, like they always do, Parcel force pay the import duty £20 and add their fee on top at £14. So, for a record you won on ebay for about £28 ($40).... Ebay, takes £2 Paypal takes £1 US Postal service takes £8 UK Taxman takes £11 Parcelforce takes £14 In summary, A £28 record costs you £61 ! The seller get £25 Parasites get £55 ! Where's the fairness in that!!
  17. Just came across this piece of information on Ebay's website. Thought it might be useful to remember. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Don't be afraid to buy from overseas .... Confused by the rules and regulations - worried whether or not you will get charged VAT on overseas purchases? Here is simplified explanation - hope it helps! Provided your purchases are NOT Excise goods, such as cigarettes, tobacco, alcohol etc. then you are allowed to purchase items to the value of UK £36.00 to import into the UK provided the seller ticks the "gift" box on the customs form when they post it .... (as at October 2007) this means your items can come to a total of about: 51.54 Euros $73.00 US Dollars $81.87 Austrailian Dollars 8591.00 Japanese Yen for other currencies or working out other amounts go to eBay's handy currency converterhttps://pages.ebay.co.uk/services/buyandsell/currencyconverter.html If the seller ticks the 'merchandise' box then you are only allowed UK £18 before incurring the interest of the VAT man before you will get charged VAT. Be warned - Parcel Force also levy a handling charge for having to collect the Customs Duty - for example, say the VAT charge is UK £20.00, they will charge another £13.50 on top!
  18. Steve, they are 2 separate records. Pharrell Williams was released on 7'inch vinyl for the UK 'soul audience' and so carried Velvet Hammer on the flip.
  19. How different people see, hear and judge things? ... Now to me Pharrell Williams "Happy" (regardless of its popular success) is an extremely good northern soul record. Absolutely nothing wrong with it at all. If the track had of turned up on an obscure Toledo 70's label, they would be doing cartwheels in the modern and northern rooms for years to come.
  20. Hi, could anyone help with a contact number or email address for Kenny. Please PM me Thank-you.
  21. To my ears, both the known Go-Gate releases are proper "all-nighter" hard edged, unpolished northern soul of the highest quality. When I first heard the Trent Sisters, the chorus "Letter A Day" seemed overwhelming, almost monotonous, but like many great 45s you have to hear out loud and a good few times too. At just over 2 minutes long, the Trent Sisters has now become one of my favourite records ever. It's rarity has most definitely held back it's popularity. As to value... £3k+, anything less would be an exceptional acquisition. A few more copies 'in the right hands' would take the record to its full potential. The same is of the Little John 45. The rumoured 3rd release would be interesting (if it indeed exists), my suspicion is that it does, as i've heard from 3 unrelated sources it was cut and pressed, one side is up-tempo, the flip a bluesy deep number.
  22. Yes Ted, they are.
  23. I saw that one but too too much. Thanks anyway.
