  1. Just had a record which the seller used the ebay Global Shipping Program to send. Inside the mailer was a piece of paper face down which I assumed to be one of those flyers or business card type things which you often get but when I picked it up it was a notice that the package had been opened. Although there was no damage I was pretty hacked off that someone, probably clueless with regards to vinyl, had been potentially messing around with my precious 45. The thing is that ebay, and I assume their 3rd party courier, can see the listing and son knows exactly what the contents of the package is and the value at time of sale. Quite why they then have to open the thing is beyond me and what rights ebay have to do this I don't know. Perhaps others on here have had their parcels opened?
  2. Not a great amount, I'd have thought perhaps £30-£50 if you can find one. Less on a good day. It is like you say, Canadian only, so eBay.ca is the place to look but it doesn't show up much in my experience.
  3. Off the top of my head - Roy Hamilton - Heartache Gwenn Stacey - Ain't Gonna Cry No More Freddie Paris - Face It Boy It's Over
  4. Could be a massive thread. There are loads not currently on there. Last few I posted weren't previously on there and I'm sure a lot of the members on here can say the same.
  5. I'd agree with that, for me you're definately playing the better side, although I most often see it listed for the other side. In fact Manny had (has?) it listed for the Baby Pack On side of the disc. That said, online at least, it's listed as "garage" a lot of times. Meant to post it on my youtube but never got round to it. Good song.
  6. On a slightly different note in the last few months I've had a lot more parcels from the USA which just need a signature, no fee to pay. In fact I've had a card through today so this means a trip to collect from the sorting office. These always have post it notes stuck on with hand written "special delivery". Strange thing is that often, when the postie at the counter scans the bar code on the packet, he doesn't even ask me to sign anything. When I questioned this I was told that scanning the barcode was proof of delivery in these cases. When I asked about the sticky "special delivery" labels I was told it was all to do with revenue ie Royal Mail get paid more for delivering these items. The bottom line is that there is a definate drive within RM to increase revenue and the folks sorting the parcels are clearly being much more vigilant as to what the labels/CN22 etc say on them.
  7. No, not bad luck. I parked just above the shop and had a feeling at the time I was taking a chance given the location in the middle of town. When I went to the back of the shop I asked what were the chances of a ticket and was told "I wouldn't park there" but anyway I thought I wouldn't be long..........how the time flies when you're looking through a few boxes of records.
  8. Never seen this vid before. Unfortunately brought back bad memories of a parking ticket on my last visit.
  9. For anyone who doesn't mind a cracked record - https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-NORTHERN-SOUL-45-The-Village-Choir-Sweet-Hot-Lips-HEAR-IT-/181293572274?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item2a35f060b2 Edit - The record sold as the link above is broken as I type this.
  10. I'd like to see a compilation from the Delphi label. Oxford Knights etc.
  11. How about the Cam Park - On The Northern Side CD's. Edit - https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/d/75247/VARIOUS_ARTISTS There are 2 or 3 volumes in the series.
  12. The only info I have came from an ebay listing I didn't win. Here's a link to the actual listing now preserved on popsike - https://www.popsike.com/White-Soul-by-SOUL-FOR-SALE-Private-label-obscure/220513850802.html The information is scant. I assume the seller found the record, along with a few other obscure, mainly garage, 45's he was selling at the time, as stated at "Sidney J. Wakefield Custom Record Pressing Plant". If memory serves me correctly the $404 sale price would have equated closer to £200 with the exchange rate at the time. (Either way Popsike only shows currency conversion based on current exchange rates so can be misleading.)
  13. The Carolinas "scent" mentioned in the Soul For Sale description is way off the mark as this 45 is from Phoenix. JM seems to deride the flip, Dance Children Dance, but if you like a pounding garage dancer there's absolutely nothing wrong with it, albeit chalk and cheese perhaps compared to the other auction items.
  14. Saturday 3 arrived namely Patty Parks - Lovers Lane, The Fabulons - Don't Ask Me, Alan Lad - Do You Like The Way I Do It For You/She Don't Know. The 1st 2 will no doubt be too Blue-eyed/Pop for some tastes. Can't find a clip for Alan Lad but She Don't Know was also released on Hot Spot 1000 with a different flip, a ballad, All The Good Lovin' You Need.
  15. I don't know if this admittedly fairly crude effort I've uploaded still exists but the cutting was taken a number of years from ago my local paper.
  16. Surely if someone can't hold the blade steadily enough in the 1st place it doesn't matter how good their eyes are??? I can magnify the grooves to take into account my poor eyesight but the more I increase magnification any movement of the blade becomes exagerated too. If I had shaky hands the last thing I would do would to take a sharp implement to the surface of a record no matter how good my eyes were.
  17. One here but it might be more than you want to pay??? - https://www.rarenorthernsoul.com/Rare-60s-Northern-USA-UK/28056/i-call-home-find-someone/#product
  18. Glad to hear you fixed your record. You could use dilute isopropyl achohol applied just to the affected spot with a cotton bud then rinsed/cleaned with your usual prefered method. I've seen, but haven't tried, some blu tac like substance listed as a means of stylus cleaning so I guess this could also be used in a localised spot on a record in an attempt to "grab" the offending matter. As a general comment I'd be very wary of using the weighted needle method on a styrene pressed disc for the reason Bob mentions above. For the same reason, to keep any groove wear to the absolute minimum, when using this method the record shouldn't be revolved far at all, literally just over the scratch/mark itself. In my experience often the scapel technique is not possible without risking more damage as the grooves on some records are so close together......unless you have the hands of a surgeon that is.
  19. Just as an experiment type Shrine in as a search on popsike & see how many entries there are. Edit: I should add that I realise this is not definitive but it's interesting to see the numbers non the less
  20. Fairly confident that Sleddge - When She Touches / Very Strong On You is a boot & definately a far more scarce 45 than either Percy Sledge - When She's Touching Me or Cortez Greer - Very Strong On You. https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?searchtext=sleddge&x=0&y=0
  21. "I'm Number One"?
  22. Thanks for pointing this out as it's always good too see these things, although I don't speak French myself! Please ask your friend to correct the typing error for White Cliffs 246 which should read Tommy Dawn not "Tonny".
  23. Keeping the thread ticking over here's a few which arrived in the week , Spidells - Pushed Out Of The Picture, another copy of Changes - And I'll Love You Forever/Say You'll Be Mine, plus a couple of Roy Smith 45's, the one on Chantain being an upgrade, the Delphi 45 I'd hankered after for a while to replace my Liberty copy but didn't want to pay much. No doubt all will be on youtube.
  24. Had the same issue quite recently with my paypal and then again a couple of days ago with the wife's account. Wondered if I'd been spending a bit more than normal to be honest!
  25. Gordy/Tamla/Motown white labels look nice on red wax & they sound OK. I think it was often done by various labels as a straight forward marketing ploy to make the record stand out. There's a few on the Texas Dynamic, Jox and Cobra labels on red wax. Another one, Swiss Movement on gold
