  1. Another blatant attempt to jump on the Northern Soul memorabilia bandwagon............... https://www.webstore.com/item,pgr,OLDE-ENGLISH-800-IT-IS-THE-POWER-BOXER-SHORTSSWIMMING-TRUNKS-EAZYE-1987-VTG,name,40620478,auction_id,auction_details
  2. Looks like this topic has already been covered - Should have searched for "mispress" rather than "miss-press". Perhaps the 2 could be merged.
  3. Is this a common one? Oh, How It Hurts miss-pressed with Game Of Love as the "B" side instead of Ain't Got Nobody. Can't see the dead wax markings on the attached picture so I might try to take another pic.
  4. Meant to post these earlier but anyway, for future reference, here are a couple of snaps of the West Coast styrene run out wax. EDIT: They seem to pop up quite big in the browser window, sorry!
  5. https://customs.hmrc.gov.uk/channelsPortalWebApp/channelsPortalWebApp.portal?_nfpb=true&_pageLabel=pageTravel_ShowContent&id=HMCE_CL_000014&propertyType=document From the above link - "Gift - Goods of a non-commercial character sent by a private person to another private person without payment of any kind and intended for personal use only."
  6. Had to look up curmudgeon, not used in these parts.......must be East Midlands slang.
  7. Thanks for the heads up and very sorry to hear what happened. The whole thing is a mess now with youtube linked to google+. If I wish to keep my existing user name, which I've had for 6 or 7 years, I can no longer answer or leave comments on youtube. Any way just subscribed to your new channel and wish you the best of luck with it.
  8. The words "some ill informed forum curmudgeon" spring to mind............
  9. Some do but at least as many don't in my experience. I can find very few of the items I've bought as "buy it now". ( Talking records $50 and up which should appear on popsike consistently. )
  10. "Marvin Smith Have More Time C/w Time Stopped We can hear it now, some ill-informed forum curmudgeon moaning this is not an auction record…" Wonder who he means?
  11. True enough.
  12. I would be cautious with this approach as Popsike can be a little bit misleading. Many ebay sales never show up on there for whatever reason, and some entries that were once on there have been bumped off over time.
  13. Just posted this on youtube - The Islanders - Where The Lights Are Bright. Anyone know if it was issued, or promo only?
  14. Definately a German release, all the text on the label points in that direction. I've had 2 copies of the record for around 5 years, neither with the sleeve, and both were bought from the USA. I don't know why the record would show up there at all but I've since seen few others. I too would be interested to know a little more about this 45, the band and how come the record reached across the pond.
  15. Yes, the copy I bought from Keith was the boot demo. Just to clarify my post was in reference to Keith not the record you sold to him. He'd obviously previously sold the issue copy you sold him.
  16. I bought a copy off Keith many moons ago, from his "play box", turned out to be the boot......I think he had a few boots in there at the time. I guess the "rare" one would be regarded as the demo with Take My Hand on the B side. - https://motownjunkies.co.uk/2013/12/08/651/
  17. Boot has a scratched in matrix.
  18. I mentioned this issue in an older thread - My concern at the time being that some heavy handed so and so could potentially could damage my record whilst trying to open the package and then reseal the it as if nothing had happened. I don't see that eBay has any right to open my mail, that is a job for customs officials.
  19. Cut and pasted from Stoke-on-Trent Tourist Boards own website.
  20. Has John changed his wording slightly? The info now reads "Totally obscure Baltimore 60s girl-group Northern Soul that we have yet to see the original 45 of. Ru-Jacs Rita Doryse on lead vocal....." Here's my copy.
  21. Willie Roundtree - Another World. One of the most emotive songs ever imho.
  22. My understanding was that the Blast release was first, followed by the Reflection release and then a later 45 on Shadow, which I think has an alternative flip side. Not sure if this link will work - https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=ArwpZYvQwJ8C&pg=PA35&lpg=PA35&dq=%22%22cannonball%22%22you+keep+telling+me+yes%22&source=bl&ots=nG8dCCYDn6&sig=FOOxoJAGDnYhfQ_t9AumgRNK_lA&hl=en&sa=X&ei=4PDzUpH7EKmQ0AXGzIGoCQ&ved=0CDgQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=%22%22cannonball%22%22you%20keep%20telling%20me%20yes%22&f=false
  23. Sadly Mistaken - Golden Earings - Apex 77014
  24. I'm afraid not all ebay sellers are this compliant. Many now insist on using the Global Shipping Program so all the fees are paid up front at the checkout. Although not happy about this situation I was prepared to factor in the added costs and where the total still represented a fair price purchase the odd item from sellers who would not, when asked, use anything other than G.S.P. What I wasn't expecting was that part of the service involved ebay tampering with my mail. So I'm having second thoughts now as after incuring greater costs I'm also exposed to greater risk of damaged goods landing on the mat. I've sent a message to ebay but I don't expect enything other than a standard response.
  25. It isn't about value as such it's the principle as Ebay have no right as far as I can see to open my mail, especially when my mail contains a fairly fragile item. I can only see all the hassle involved if someone opens your latest puchase whilst in transit & it slide out onto the floor. There's the potential that your M- disc will end up a trasher. What if said individual then repacks your 45 so you "couldn't see where it had been opened", who will you blame? I could go on with the "what if's" but it's inevitable along the line there will be some agro/tears with this policy. EDIT:typo
