  1. There will still be postal charges and possible customs charges. Completely agree, I'm not trying to suggest that listing fees are an issue I was just offering Discogs as a possible alternative marketplace to the ubiquitous ebay. If you read the post in full I go on to suggest that to make these cheaper 45's more attractive the buyer has got to be able to combine a few in order to offset the aforementioned additional costs. I buy plenty of these lower value records from the USA but always in quantities of 3 or 4 upwards. Naturally common sense would dictate that the £8 handling fee is always factored into the equation.........just in case. Another consideration for the seller is that if these records are quite common/readily available and of a lower grade then it's probably not even worth bothering in my opinion as buyers will just pick up M- or EX copies from elsewhere. The only option with these "common" and/or lower grade discs is to list them in lots of 10 or whatever. As a final thought perhaps Mark could put a list together and post it on the sales forum on this site.
  2. Had a few delivered over the Christmas holiday period but was sweating on this one which arrived yesterday as it's taken ages to get here. It's a spare copy but even so I'd begun to fear the worst.
  3. You could list them on Discogs.com where listing is free and any fees after a sale will be less than ebay. To stand much chance selling on ebay steer well clear of the Global Shipping scam, sorry scheme, & offer the lowest possible shipping fee +a good deal for combined shipping to try to encourage a multiple purchase.
  4. 6th Edition IS a straight price guide. You needed the 5th edition to get the bootleg info - https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/index.php/d/161202/MANSHIPS_PRICE_GUIDE_edition_5
  5. Amen to that! I have one package at the sorting office now waiting for me to pay a £13 charge, £8 of which is the "handling" fee.
  6. I believe many sellers aren't even fully aware that has Ebay opted them in by default. I've contacted many sellers to ask them if they'd consider opting out of GSP and who have been non the wiser, in fact have been apologetic when this has been pointed out to them
  7. It's the total including shipping costs that is used for the duty/vat charge calulations, and as the shipping fee is always inflated when sellers use the global shipping program there are very few records that do not incur said fees in my experience.
  8. Do you still have these available?
  9. Take your pick - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spaceark-Do-What-You-Can-Do-Color-World-label-/361138716023?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item54158b7d77 https://www.musicstack.com/album/spaceark/do+what+you+can+do
  10. That Ain't The Way (You Make Love) by Reggie Garner was not issue only as it was originally released as a white Promotional Copy on ABC-11426 then Half A Cup became the "plug" side for ABC-11440. These promo's are both same sided. Obviously both the early and latter stock issues have both songs. I posted the demo on youtube some years ago.
  11. There is a youtube link on my profile page on this site. If you do decide to check it out apologies in advance for the low quality of some of the videos on there, although the audio is mostly good. Also I can no longer reply to any comments left since google messed about with youtube/google+. I would have to change my user name which I don't want to do.
  12. Yes, 2 good sides. I have a different version of this on an album by the Blue Notes which if I ever decided to totally give up posting records on youtube I intend to be the last upload on my channel. EDIT: typo
  13. This 45 has probably been posted on this thread at some pointin the past but as I've just taken it off my turntable I thought I'd post it up tonight. Curtis King - Bad Habits
  14. Last half dozen for me this evening are - Jesse Gomez - Lace Royal Kingdom - Tryin' To Make It Roy Jefferson with J.C.and the Soul Angeles - He's Got To Go (both sides, Partt1 & 2) cos I really like the instrumental flip. Dee Dee Warwick - Don't You Ever Give Up On Me & We've Got Everything Going For Us The Honey Bees - She Don't Deserve You Frankie Newsom - Taunting Love
  15. Delphi 1st release local Augusta, Georgia label. Picked up by Jubilee for release circa 1967. Capricorn label release was later early 70's.
  16. 2nd hand hi fi has been mentioned so another possibility for the "all in one" box could be a Linn Classik. There are 2 models I bebieve, the original Classik and the later Classik Movie Di. These were around a grand when originally sold but can be had for less than £300 on ebay. The down sides are that you'd have to buy a turntable, phono stage and speakers, plus a cassette deck if you needed one. Also the radio is not DAB. Assuming a £600 budget it should be quite easy to buy the other items 2nd hand and this should end up being a fine sounding system which could be upgraded when funds permit. My own preference would still be to spend the £600 on separates starting with a good deck such as a Rega, Project or similar. https://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/linn-classik https://www.whathifi.com/linn/classik-music/review
  17. Playing this at present. My copy is beat but I just bought what will hopefully be one in better condition. Willie Davis - I Learned My Lesson
  18. Teac do a couple of equivalents to the old "all in one" music system - https://www.richersounds.com/product/mini-hi-fi/teac/lpr550usb/teac-lpr550-usb-blk https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Teac-TEA-LPP1000-BLACK-Turntable-Audio-System-with-Bluetooth-AUX-/361130062401?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Turntables&hash=item5415077241 I have no idea if they are any good perhaps others on here can comment on this. There are several all in ones, but minus the turntable, from a few of the well respected hi fi name brands so you could go down this route and add a turntable of your choice. I would also echo the posts above regarding 2nd hand hi fi equipment based on the experience of having bought various 2nd hand turntables, amps, speakers etc over the years. EDIT - EDIT 2 - A word of caution on the above in that it looks like these TEAC's use the same stylus as the new generation cheap USB decks so I'm not sure how kind to records these are going to be.
  19. The other side was far better.
  20. Have to agree with the comments regarding sound quality. Played back to back there is a marked audible difference between orig demo & pink "stock" copies. In addition to the comments above I think a little bit of this lo fi quality is also down to the materials, styrene vs vinyl. Styrene to my ear has a very different sound characteristic when compared to vinyl & I think this adds to the overall drop in quality. At one point I was going to post both tracks back to back on my youtube channel to demonstrate the difference but sadly never got around to doing it.
  21. You could try an offer on this one - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Bobby-Dixon-Woman-You-Made-Me-You-Dont-Wanna-Love-Me-PROBE-northern-soul-dj-45-/381048319573?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item58b83fee55 Failing that I have a spare copy somewhere but I think it was quite rough. Feel free to get in touch if you want me to dig it out to check condition.
  22. There are a couple on ebay.com right now.
  23. Just bought this one - Fabulous Plaids - Ask The Lonely. Nice version for the beach music market.
  24. In the last couple of days The Paramounts - Under Your Spell & Herman George - Mental High / What Have You Got arrived plus there are a few other things still in the post.
  25. Based on personal experience I can highly recommend these -https://www.whathifi.com/akg/k550/review I bought them at £100 a couple of years ago and now they can be found even cheaper. I have some more expensive Sennheisers and the AKG's are better to my ears. You should be able to audition several different makes/models at your local Richer Sounds showroom and for £70-£80 get a good pair. I would strongly advise you try before you buy as some headphones may sound great but not be comfortable to wear.
