  1. So, having read all of the above, the consensus of opinion seems to be "fine for DJing" = thrashed so does this mean that all the EX/M- records out there are in fact NOT "fine/ok for DJing" and that is why they are never advertised as such............just a thought..........I'll get me coat.
  2. If the playing surface had no issues but the labels had damage or heavy writing etc I would consider that to be a condition which could be said to be "Fine For DJing".
  3. From within ebay Ian buys globally, although whether these purchases end up in his soul packs I have no idea.
  4. I believe that there are still plenty of records out there that appear quite rare if not unknown. The thing is that just because a google search revealed little info is no guarantee of scarcity, Popsike is far from complete and youtube for all the volume of videos on there seems mainly to be people posting the same records, often using the same audio and label scans
  5. Here's a few that arrived in the last couple of weeks.
  6. It goes without saying that if you go down this route exercise some caution when applying the stylus tip to the putty as too much lateral movement could potentially damage your stylus at the mounting/cantilever. I guess that would be one advantage of the gel based Onzow. I just allow only the tip to gently mark the putty then lift and repeat a couple of times whist I bear the mass of the tone arm. Search the net and you'll find every method under the sun debated on numerous forums...........a bit like methods for record cleaning.
  7. I looked at that stuff but as I'm a tight git I ended up buying this - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MCRU-STYLUS-CLEANING-PUTTY-HI-FI-CHOICE-RECOMMENDED-/350917688796?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item51b452fddc I only use it infrequently and I think it works, although I've not used it enough to say if there could be a placebo effect going on. It's actually gone up in price since I bought mine but at £8 is worth a try. Edit: It's quite likely that this is the same material - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bergeon-Rodico-6033-original-cleaning-putty-for-watches-other-parts-PCBs-/200946631489
  8. Modern soul 45, Ron Furr - Hold Her. I've posted this 45 on other threads in the past but no apologies as the sax in this is great. Starts at 2:13 but I'd urge listening to the complete record, you can admire the bass playing while you wait, as the solo sounds so much better with the song building up to it......if that makes sense. Note, it's a quite recording so maybe up the volume a bit.
  9. Correct. "Effin lint" to be precise.
  10. Most of the methods above will work but if washing in soapy water or applying isopropanol ditch the sponges and kitchen roll in favour of a microfibre cloth for both washing and drying. Note that microfibre cloths do differ in quality so you'll maybe have to try a few brands. Some have longer fibres and are much "fluffier" and better for getting into the grooves in my experience. Also some are more prone to shedding fibres than others. A little experimentation may be required. Last ones I bought were from "Home Bargains" store or similiar. After using them a few times thow them away and replace with a new one as if they're washed they seem to become less effective because the fibres clump together.
  11. Trial Of Love is a long standing favourite of mine. Excellent sweet soul.
  12. One variant of Bet It's A Hit
  13. B-Jet is another. Looks like someone got the watercolours out.
  14. Straight forward google search 1st, then if that draws a blank the "wants" adds already mentioned.
  15. Here's a crudely ornate label design, Royal Kingdom. Bit of a hand drawn look.
  16. As I remember, and I could be wrong, ARP pressed all the Revilot vinyl releases from #222 onwards when the move from styrene seems to have been made. Not that this proves anything other than the DB release discussed here was pressed elsewhere for whatever reason.
  17. Any sign of an ARP stamp in the deadwax on these DB vinyl copies?
  18. Rita Da Costa - You And Nothing More
  19. I would add any/all of the Kaleidoscope cuts on TSOP but especially I Wanna Live For You.
  20. Although pretty scarce I thought it as a £30 record. Slips through ebay for a lot less. ( I bought a minter for $5 a few years ago and have passed it up a couple of times since then as a buy it now item on ebay.) I think it's a great song, but I guess everyone wants Run, Run, Run! https://www.popsike.com/RARE-NORTHERN-SOUL-45-JIM-GILSTRAP-WHEN-YOU-COME-BACK/260885643220.html
  21. It's an almost bottomless pit, just like collecting the damn records. I believe just as there will always be something missing from the collection, there will likewise be records missing from youtube, for various reasons. I think youtube is great and post, very infrequently, on there often finding that a lot of these records haven't been posted previously. It would be fair to assume that some of the rarer or more obscure records are generally less likely to be posted but more surisingly to me is that plenty of the cheap, freely available discs don't find their way onto youtube either. Perhaps they get passed over in favour of the more popular, in some cases higher value sounds. I also think a lot of folk tend to post the same old same old cos it's still going earn kudos and get lot's of hits......if that's your thing. For my part many of my records weren't, at least at the time of posting them, duplicated on there, although they probably are now. They are/were always completely random picks with no effort made to cherry pick from whichever part of my collection is around the turntable at the time (this is mainly because there are no "cherries" to pick out in my collection). I reckon if I were to actually make an effort to post videos more frequently and try to select things that hadn't already been posted I would still easily be able to keep going doing just that for years.......there's just so much music on vinyl out there.
  22. Get Set, Be Ready by The Auditions is fast enough that, to my ear at least, the guitarist can't quite keep up with the pace in parts of the song. Used to be cheap & I think this still qualifies on price.
  23. Cheapie, R.B. Hudmon - Yo-Yo
  24. One here - https://www.discogs.com/Barry-Smith-Hold-On-To-It-Dont-Go-Away-Girl/release/4328040 Worth looking out for the version by P.J. Smith too if you don't already have it.
