  1. His are some of the best for sure. The production is great on them all.
  2. Another case of auction fever most prob. Happens every day. You see something go through ebay for a certain price and simultaneously find it cheaper on discogs or wherever.
  3. Personally,in one bitter instance, some jobsworth must have used a calculator to work out that the total value of one of mine from the US was a few pence over £15 total. I worked it out to be 8 pence over using the exchange rate at the time. I strolled into the sorting office thinking the £8 would obviously be waived......how wrong was I! Worth remembering to ask the seller if they would be willing to mark the item as a "gift" for lower value items.
  4. I found this to be a problem for a while now. The £8 fee is a complete rip off given that if you end up picking the parcel up in person from the sorting office you incur fuel costs on top of the time taken. I've begun to wonder if it's a change in policy in order for Royal Mail to make some extra revenue, given that vat is due on "commercial goods" over £15 in value, where the "value" is not just the actual cost of the item but = basic cost of goods + postage, packing, insurance etc + any import duty charged. For items marked "gift" £40 is the limit but the same formula applies. At a guess the value most 45's sent from USA will be over £15 total once P&P is factored in. So there's a lot of scope for RM to claw in some extra dosh. Frightening thought really.......
  5. It's worth bearing in mind Popsike doesn't include items which sold for less than $25. Plus it doesn't claim to be exhaustive with items which do sell for over $25. Also, I think I'm correct here, neither does Popsike include Ebay "buy it now" items, just auction items. That's a fair bit of data missing from 2004 to date. Still a very useful tool tho, especially nowadays for users of smartphones and the like, to get a quick idea of value. Back on topic, always interesting to compare prices any new guide to older editions.
  6. I forgot to put the inverted commas around the word inconsistent.
  7. Johnny Noble - Bring It Back
  8. Mainly associated with The 13th Floor Elevators. There's a potted history of the label here - https://www.internationalartistsrecords.com/international_artists_records.html
  9. Here's one which often turns up - https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Soul-45-SAM-DEES-FRAGILE-HANDLE-WITH-CARE-SAVE-THE-LOVE-AT-ANY-COST-/160838776362?pt=UK_Records&hash=item2572bcf62a Incidentally, anyone know what the sound quality is like on these JA pressed ATLANTIC 45's? This one sounds fine in the sound file - https://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-SOUL-SAM-DEES-Fragile-handle-with-care-JA-ISSUE-/300747140164?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item4605ed2c44 Do most? Can't imagine quality control would be as good as USA pressed copies. Often seems the case with some 45's pressed in the Caribbean sounding like they hadn't got a good source for mastering, like og master tape, so used another 45, or recording from a 45, which often appears to have been a well worn copy at that! Add to that the often very poor vinyl quality used and you get some mint/ex condition 45's which sound awful on playing. Some of the WIRL stuff is pretty inconsistent.
  10. On Crimson there were strangely no writing or production credits just the publishers Le-Mar Music. Whereas Lost Nite credits "Lemar Corp." rather than "M Kellem" (I assume to be Manny Kellem - the producer on the Vibrations 45), so it could be Manny is connected to Le Mar, or is Mannys own publishing company ie. he's the owner, or else something happened regarding rights/ownership between the writer and publishing company. There's a clipon youtube showing Never The Less on Lost Nite 1001- [media=] which appears to show different credits again. Non of the above answers the original question........sorry!
  11. Rarest format? Yellow label but no "Promotional Copy Plug Side" text on label - https://www.popsike.com/TOBI-LEGEND-rare-northern-soul-Time-Will-Pass-You-By-45/190518324271.html Anyone confirm if this variation always has a cut out drill hole in the label?
  12. Just dug my old copy out and at the time of purchase I'd added the note - "Ex Guy Hennigan McKinnley Mitchell c/u" on the sleeve.
  13. Here's one at a fair price - https://www.northerns...il.asp?id=16389 Think it was covered up at Stafford as I remember. UPDATE - The above link is now dead - that particular copy (M- DEMO £25) appears to have been sold.
  14. I've seen several of these "R&B" acetates, featuring various artists. Never been quite sure what to make of them. There are a couple of interesting references on the net. https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/tams.htm The Tams discog in the link above has this - "R & B (no #) - Laugh It Off / I've Been Hurt - 1977 (came in a plain white label with red logo lettering with "A '77 Lori Production" and "Dynatone Recording" typed on label - these are alternate versions of earlier charted tracks)" There is a little more regarding this Tams 45 here - https://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/southernsoul/message/38720
  15. Al Serafini - Hey, Soul Man / Lil Rosey. Both sides sax instrumentals. Mentioned this 45 before in the recent "Instrumentals Still Collecting Them" thread. Wouldn't say they're my faves as such but, from a saxophonists perspective, would be good to play along to. Or something short but punchy Patti & the Emblems - Easy Come, Easy go has a good break at about 1:30
  16. Much of the material by The Trends would fit the bill.
  17. The reason for the title change is explained here - https://souljoneswords.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/betcha-by-golly-wow-exclusive-thom-bell.html
  18. Any takers for Keep Growing Strong, the "A" (plug) side? At least with the demo copies you've both tunes rather than mono/stereo plug side,as is often the case. Probably this holds down the value of the stock copy a little bit. Some of the demos have black text whilst others are in red text.....not sure if this has any baring on scarcity/value???
  19. Thank you! Delighted that you think so but my original comment still stands........some of mine are dire.
  20. Some but not all of their Uptite releases were released "same sided" on the white promo copies, with just the plug side on both. You'll have no doubt noticed "Is It Love" was also released on Uptite 13 but the white label promo copy of this 45 does in fact have both songs like the stock copy (Piece By Piece / Is It Love).
  21. I'll nominate mine before someone else does. A good few suffer in the "production department". The earlier ones used to get corrupted when uploaded so the volume randomly rises/falls. On top of that they're all point and shoot so have camera shake......always careful not to fart tho. Finally,I never bother with lighting....if it's a bright day they're sharp. ............I reckon that should get me a few more subscribers
  22. My Heart Cries For You / Think Twice Before You Walk Away There's one here - https://www.rarenorthernsoul.com/Rare-60s-Northern-USA-UK/page29/15018/my-heart-cries-for-you/#product ..........sounds a bit crackly in the sample tho!
  23. This photo is "Chick Carlton & the Majestics" who recorded "So You Want To Rock / I Want To Be A TV Cowboy" on Faro (592)in 1959. That's Chick Carlton front middle who was one on the few non-hispanic artists on the Faro family of labels. The (Art Robles) Majestics on Linda were an unconnected group.
  24. I would expect set sale = £75 - £100 for EX/M-. Ebay = very variable. Take a look on popsike - https://www.popsike.com/php/quicksearch.php?pagenum=1&searchtext=harry+deal&incldescr=&sortord=ddate&thumbs=&currsel=
  25. Both have similar rules regarding tracking as I see it - https://pages.ebay.com/paypal/seller/ https://www.paypal-m...ctionOnEbay.htm With regards to the "pay now" link. It may be possible to find the won item notification in your email account and click on the item there. If you're signed into ebay, hopefully, this will give you the option to "pay now" through ebay. Can't be sure it'll work but pretty confident it worked once for me.
