Just a general comment to anyone who is unaware, but an individual using their own equipment at a venue should consider getting it PAT tested, even if new, if only to cover your own backside. I'm sure insurers will expect this anyway as part of the requirements of any policy to mitigate public liability, so if you haven't got the certification your insurer may not cover you in the event of a problem caused by your equipment. The owner of the equipment has obligations in law as the "duty holder" & there are big fines & possible imprisonment if prosecuted. I found this thread which although not a DJ the same points are valid - https://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/pat-testing/21224-do-i-need-pat-test.html

Probably has some connection to ebay seller "mischino", although that was a lady not a guy if I remember correctly - https://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=mischino&ftab=AllFeedback&seeallfeedback=See%20All%20Feedback&myworld=true I think there's been a thread on here about the Prix stuff, & possibly some of the other records, in the past. It's fair to say there is some confusion as there's never any mention in the listings of re-issue, boot etc, although I echo the comment above about some items being deadstock originals.

Almost impossible to choose as there are so many great lyrics but for me The Ethics - Think About Tomorrow would spring to mind. The lyrics are so simple. Easier to post the song rather than type them out.

Sorry not a light warp, I mean serious warpage. I guess, from a non aesthetic point of view, this topic also depends on the turntable being used for playback as each warped record is unique so as to if, or how, it will play (or not) is down to the equipment/set up being used. Anyway, if you do get chance to experiment please do post your findings.

The sooner the better please! Considered buying this kit myself but would like to hear more reviews first. I have a few records which would otherwise be nice Ex/M-, & play through without jumping, but the fidelity is badly affected as the tonearm rises/falls.

In a word no. Sensibly I can only assume the 1 offer is for significantly less than the asking price. It's a 20 odd quider tops imo. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Wesley-Paige-Ive-Got-to-Find-Out-For-Myself-rare-Northern-Soul-45-Better-Days-/251152489253?nma=true&si=37Kn7e%2BpzkxIKIdsMjcR9EZyVNI%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Exactly what I thought Sunday morning when I woke up to find I'd missed out on a bargain because my ebay auction snipe had inexplicably failed to work.........

Goes without saying that any liquid, of whatever type used for cleaning, needs to be fully absorbed from the surface of the wax to remove as much of the dissolved crud as possible. I find a large micro fibre cloth does a great job. Mopping off the excess first then using a dry area of the cloth, or have a 2nd cloth handy, to gently finish dry the disc. Just a few gentle wipes is enough, not a polish. Some of these cloths have a very deep pile but I can't say I've tried them to know if they're better/worse ie. leave fibres behind etc. Also, I think there's a problem with some solutions evaporating too quickly so some of the muck just dries back in the grooves before it can be mopped up. I prefer to be able to absorb as much as poss otherwise dirt can end up on the stylus and can contaminate it and (worse case) subsequent records.

100% post internet for me. I'm a miserly bugger so my opinion is from a purely financial point of view. I've bought stuff I'd never have dreamed of off the net, and seen records I would probably never see in a lifetime of digging. Importantly, the thrill of the chase, so to speak, is still there. For me, as a complete tight wad, early ebay days were best, up to just after the $/£ exchange rate started falling from £1=$2. It's not quite as easy to find a bargain now imo.....although without a doubt they're still there.

Couple Of Valuations Please From You Experts

Not hard to find but there are variations. I sold the actual 45 in the youtube video in post #1 for £20. It's the slightly harder to find copy (imo) with "Paradise" on the flip (PD ?, I didn't note the label # but probably same as the white demo PD 14525), instead of the usual "Chains" (PD 2195), which is probably your £10-£15 range at a guess. White demo 45 with long/short version more than £20?? EDIT - As a point of interest, for whatever reason the PD 14525 release acknowledges the involvement of Luther Vandross, the label credits "Gregg Diamond Bionic Boogie Featuring Luther Vandross", the other 45 just credits "Gregg Diamond Bionic Boogie". -
Soul Source Record Of The Day, (Some Say It's The Fall?) Autum 2012

It's a great tune. The later (2nd) record posted above is my own 45, never got around to posting the Ascot 45. Just for information this was also released on Chantain, a label which I believe Roy had some involvement in? Roy was a massive talent imo, a great song writer & wonderful vocalist. Sadly, when he passed in 1998, he was buried in a grave with no marker. Happily this was rectified a few years ago. There's a nice slow ballad by Roy posted on youtube called "Running Out Of Time", I won't post the link as perhaps it's not in keeping with this thread. Also some live footage on youtube too. -

Soul Source Record Of The Day, (Some Say It's The Fall?) Autum 2012

It's Equator Records. Here's another 45 on the same label showing the address in Birmingham, Alabama - https://www.popsike.com/45-BIRMINGHAM-FUNK-Dwight-Houston-The-Ghettos-EQUATOR-LISTEN/310392031351.html -
Asked myself the same question with a copy of Darlene Love - Stumble and Fall on Phillies..........Ouch!! Another which still makes me want to punch the wall is when years ago I'd bought a lot of 25 "latin/tex-mex" 45's as a $20 ebay buy it now back when the exchange rate was 2 for 1. No artists were listed but I noticed a copy of Sunny & the Sunliners "If I Could See You Now" plus a couple of other titles among the records in the photo so thought worth a punt. The records arrived and most were rough but I was chuffed "If I Could See You Now" was close to mint. All needed a good clean so I lent them upright on the work top in front of the microwave while I got stuff together then turned and watched the youngest family member enter the kitchen and inexplicably press the door release on the microwave. The door popped open sending the records tumbling onto the tiled floor. 24 of the records remained unscathed, only the decent one got damaged...a dirty great chunk out of the edge. I said nothing, just glared, little 'un started to cry. I didn't console her.............does that make me a bad man? Anyway, just to add insult to injury, later, when the wife arrived home, young 'un said "mummy, daddy has made me cry", the story was retold & the wife, who is unsympathathetic to my record buying, gave it me in the neck as if it were my fault.

Worth noting it was released twice as a B side. Dark blue J-102 with "Surprise" & light blue J-103 with "I Like It Like That". I bought this years ago on ebay cheap cos it was listed as "garage"....."Surprise" being a garage type sound. Band member Jack Strong has a channel on youtube (lytation) and a contact jpmusic@rcn.com. His comment on his post of J-102 "...probably the rarest one we did".

The Ambers - I Love You Baby / Now I'm In Trouble on Verve would be an obvious one if not mentioned before. He had a hand in writing songs eg one listed by Sean Hampsey above - Chris Hamilton's I've Got To Have Your Love. Great tune co-written by Mr Ott.

Knew where you were coming from, just quoting what I grew up drinking back then, although my memories (poor) of the pubs seem to be haunted by Ansells!!! Having re-read my 1st post #76 re lack of Stokie accent, I'd like to ammend #79 to read "Wrights meat 'n' tayter".......

Couple of Oatcakes, or a Wrights meat and potato definitely! Washed down with Peddie not Parkers.

My mistake....Jim perhaps? Was the "Sa" in Savern also taken from Sono or is this just coincidence?
