  1. Listen thru headphones a lot at home it has to be A wherever possible for me, but I will dip into B for rarer or bargain price records........with a view to C upgrading them. So please can you add another category D = All of the above.
  2. The seller is Lew & Marsha Stanley, not in the habit of selling boots in my experience. I'm sure it would be noted in the description if there were any concerns.
  3. As has been mentioned previously some of the stuff on this thread I wouldn't consider to be pysch soul so I suppose we could go to the other extreme with something like The Burning Bush - Keeps On Burning, which is pure pysch for my money but obviously was picked up for plays on the northern scene.
  4. Mistake, not a typo on my part. Just pulled it off the shelf after posting and still didn't notice!
  5. Typo? Jack Harden is on "Moon Shot"......Canadian only 45. Great record.
  6. The big problem with this increase for the average buyer in UK is that in theory, as the amount paid for postage is one of the factors used to calculate import vat, it will push many more purchases over the import vat thresholds, so you will incur more frequent charges for import vat, and of course Royal Mail will then charge £8 handling on top. Looking forward to many more "import duty" threads.......
  7. One of the hardest on the label for sure, possibly the hardest to locate in good shape? A point to note is that it would appear not to be Joe Jama on vocals but Fernando Arangua if you read the comments to the video on youtube, one of which is from Fernado's wife.
  8. Purely from a record buying perspective a good year, to the point where a couple of my blind buys did actually turn out to be "soul" 45's and were even OK for a change........
  9. Obviously cost depends mainly on the weight of the item. Here's the link to the Airsure prices (where you will note it mentions additional cover up to £500 costs an extra £2.60 on top) - https://www.royalmail.com/delivery/delivery-options-international/airsure/prices International Signed For prices are Airmail price + £5.15, where, as above, an extra £2.60 has then to be added to the total for additional compensation up to £500. Pretty sure vinyl records are duty free into the US, I think there may be a very low "processing fee" in some cases, maybe one of the US forum members will clarify, so you can put full value on the customs form. There's a good calculator to play around with here - https://www.dutycalculator.com/new-import-duty-and-tax-calculation/ In any event Royal Mail only need proof of value in the event of a claim, as much as you can provide, eg. printout of paypal transaction &/or copy of ebay listing after end of auction, or similar. They don't need to know the value on the customs form in my experience but it won't hurt your case if the true value is on the customs form.
  10. Airsure costs more as it's supposedly the premium service & receives "priority handling", so in theory is faster and safer. On the Royal Mail site there is no mention of a signature ever being obtained when using Airsure, however, according to the blurb, "Airsure items are scanned at 6 different points from collection to delivery overseas." The 6 points are listed, the last tracking point is listed as the "Delivery Office overseas" not the actual delivery address. International Signed For though states "Signature on delivery" as one of the customer benefits, adding "You can be sure that the item will be handed over only after it is signed for", so, again in theory, the item should always be signed for upon delivery wherever in the world it is sent, but then goes on to say "please be aware that a copy of the signature is not currently part of this service". This is where it gets messy as it could be that Paypal may require a copy of the signature in the event of a claim/chargeback for loss. Where it gets more confusing is that for both services there's a relatively small list of destinations which provide overseas tracking, in the case of this thread USA is included in the list of countries which do provide track and trace information, but for some destinations you could pay the extra for either one of these services and find the item can't be tracked online. Also according to the blurb, perhaps worryingly, "Airsure is not a guaranteed service" (whatever that means), don't know if that's also true of ISF. Paypal seller protection policy requires "You must obtain proof of delivery that can be tracked on line", so in actual fact neither service 100% fits the bill, but many people will never have a paypal chargeback/claim against them for lost mail and, in my limited experience, RM would pay compensation pretty sharpish if the lost item had been sent Airsure or ISF. I wouldn't advocate 1 service over the other. Perhaps International Signed For, which provides a limited amount of tracking along with a signature, appears to fit Paypal's spec a bit better but Airsure should be faster and safer so yer pays yer money takes yer choice. Finally, the only thing I would stress to anyone is that maximum compensation with each service is £50, regular Airmail is £46 max, so always pay the additional premium for enhanced compensation covering up to £500 if sending something valuable.
  11. Label scan
  12. Pretty sure it won't be Richard Domar himself, he's stopped selling citing ill health as the reason. Can't image he would ever sell on ebay as he'd even given up accepting emails after recently closing his website, where notably, unlike this ebay seller, he never accepted paypal payment. (OK, I know ebay forces you down the paypal route.) I don't remember him having The Commands on his last stock list, certainly not at this price.
  13. I have the same 45 here so just to add some extra info to this thread - Bell Sound stamped, MR stamped, delta number is 56769 and scratched in matrix number reads ZXSE-1230V-RE-1F (on the Nothing Can Compare To You side) in small letters. A quick look on popsike would suggest this is the rarer format for the demo but I've seen quite a few of this straight text style label going through ebay in the last few years.
  14. Stoke as in Stoke-on-Trent? If so, it's no real surprise as the local charity shops are bursting with such items. In fact there was talk the council were going to use them to fill pot holes.
  15. He does sell some Bob, some decent Texas stuff occasionally at a fair price, although you never know what will happen, or what will land on the door mat as his grading is all over the place, and he's likely to give a reason for not being able to ship the record you just purchased/won. The customer can expect everything from Ex condition down to broken in pieces.....and that's just the few I've had off him. Packing also leaves a lot to be desired. Totally unreasonable to deal with if there's an issue, he once reported me to ebay as a non paying bidder almost immediately after I bought a record for the "buy it now" price. I assume he decided he wanted more money as he re-listed it and the price had increased from $60 buy it now to $100 starting bid. This was some time ago, I've lost track of the user names now. Toolhaus.org is a good place to look at the old feedback for these type of sellers, where it's easy to see patterns. A lot of negs for re-sealing LP's was another in the case of Mr. L. Harris as I remember.
  16. Feel free but I've only got 1/2 an hour before work!
  17. Mine are in audio. All files shows everything in my account including audio.
  18. Try clicking on the file name & you get a window saying "playing" where you'll see "embed".
  19. Here's my method, for anyone who's interested, using Divshare. 1: Upload your mp3 to your divshare account. 2: Once upload completed, view in dashboard where you'll see all your files. 3: Then click on "embed" under the appropriate file to take you to the "Audio Skin Browser" page. You can choose the skin for the player and to have playlists, or not, by checking the respective box and then selecting "save" at the bottom. 4: Copy the embed code on the right of the page. 5: Assuming you're editing your ebay listing description in "standard" format, click on the "HTML" tab, to change format, and paste the embed code in the desired location - I usually have the words "HEAR IT" or "LISTEN" already in my template so just have to find these in the HTML code and paste the divshare embed code alongside. 6: Switch back to "standard" but note the player will NOT be visible at this point, then navigate down and select "preview", which should open a smaller window showing the listing along with the player....hopefully in the right place! 7: Complete the listing and list the item. 8: View the listed item to ensure all is well. Make sure to listen to the sample in the player......just in case you pasted the wrong tune. I think the above is right but stand to be corrected as I've typed this from memory.
  20. Did you click on "Preview"?
  21. You need to change over to the "html" tab in the ebay listing then paste the embed code in the appropriate place. You won't see the player in the unfinished listing unless you click on "preview", where it should show up. When you list the item and check the listing it should be visible. Edit: Would be clearer if I said change over from "Standard" to "HTML" tab in the description section of the listing.
  22. Doug Banks - Baby Since You Went Away &, slightly more up-tempo, Rita Da Costa - You And Nothing More A couple I enjoy at home with my pipe and slippers. Edited 15th Nov to include missing video clips.
  23. The stock copy has a decent flip. So here just for reference The Choice Four - The Woman I'm Being True To. I will add it sounds better in the flesh than in this youtube vid.
  24. Photo of the Nashville Phono Matrix sleeve has the record label, RAM-BROCK, along with the stamper (matrix) numbers, 2002A & 2002B, albeit struck through. Assuming the stampers match the sleeve, the sellers description seems to bear this out, then Ram-Brock 2002 = Cody Black - Going Going Gone (Nashville Matrix stamped in the runout on my copy). Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
  25. Anyone else seen this on ebay - https://www.ebay.com/itm/LOT-of-2-Mother-Plate-5-Ram-Brock-Stamper-Plate-1968-DETROIT-SOUL-45-LP-Motown-/130796360754?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item1e74121432 A little bit of history, they'd look nice properly mounted and hung on the wall if nothing else.
