  1. All I can say to this debate is 'Cheap as Chips'. We've got our next one in Aug. Warren
  2. How much did the Charles Mintz go for? It was about £850 earlier this week.
  3. I am led to believe from a certain Tony Smith the 2nd that the Paula production was in fact inferior to the Vaulte production. As it happens its inconsequential now as I've got a copy. Warren
  4. Nice selection boys. Can someone do any sound files from the last three postings. Ta
  5. Love - Can you hear me - knight brothers - checker
  6. Glad there's more than just me and Nogsy who love this. Yeah, top tune.
  7. Going to do another Cheap as Chips night on 4th August. Playing top soul costing £50 or less (at today's prices). Ran this last year and musically it was one of the best nights we had all year. Thought I'd start this thread again to ask for your recommendations on underplayed cheap tunes that DESERVE more of an outing. I'll kick off with these beauties. Billy Keane - Wishing and hoping - Vault Knight Brothers - Love-can't you hear me - Checker Chuck Bernard - Funny changes - Satelite Jackie Verdell - Come let me love you - Jackie Ross - Dynamite lovin' - Chess The Hammond Brothers - 30 miles of railroad track - Abner Al Reed - Sorry about that - Axe Rudy Love - Suffering wrath - Canton The Carltons - Ooo baby - Argo
  8. Feel bad about hijacking anther thread but if you don't know this classy piece of vinyl you'll be pleasantly surprised to know that this will be one of the tunes we will be featuring at Boogaloosoul's Motown extravaganza this Sat night 12th may in London. Enjoy Warren Boogaloo

Just to give you a taster of what to expect. I've taken the liberty of posting up my playlist from the last Motown night we held. Read 'em and weep. It'll be a cracker Bobby Taylor - I've been blessed Vows - Tell me Isley Brothers - Behind a painted smile Spinners - It's a shame Edwin Starr - Time Edwin Starr - My kind of woman Supreme's - Love is like an itching in my heart Supreme's - Going down for the third time Jnr Walker - Last call Four tops - Something about you Marvin Gaye - Love starved heart Marvin and Tammi - Ain't no mountain high enough Kim Weston - Thrill a moment Barbara McNair - Forget you ever met me baby Stevie Wonder - Angel Baby Temptations - Why do you want to make me blue Martha and Vandellas - Nowhere to run Four Tops - Shake me wake me
  11. Michael, michael, michael. Both this and the Edward Hamilton are probably the most easily danceable tunes on the Northern scene. Both rhythically very easy to follow. I suspect you may have difficulty hearing a beat in your head. Now, the Towanda Barnes is a different story but has anyone ever flipped it over to hear the other side - a monster tune and IMHO just as great as 'you don't mean it'. Warren
