Have to agree about the promotion - very, very poor for the Gladys Knight and this was to be her farewell concert. Wembley Arena was half empty but that didn't matter once she got on stage. Brilliant voice and great entertainer too. Fabulous.

Lots of the better music shops will allow you to rent a sax and take the cost off that if you decide to buy it later. Personally, I'd advise you go for an Alto as it's quieter than a Tenor and will disturb the neighbours less. I wouldn't go for an expensive one first as you need to know if you'll stick with it. See if there are any music workshops in your area and go to them as well as lessons (which you shouldn't skimp on) as you'll meet other saxo's and it's good for bonding. The only thing that's going to get you to Jnr Walker standard is talent and practice - so if you're not prepared to spend half an hour a day honing your skill levels I'd advise you to get a Nintendo Wii instead. Hip City Records is Rob Messer's record sales site. He's always got tunes for sale and been selling for years- you need to get out more. Must admit tho, there are lots of really good tunes coming up at the mo. Aaaaah, so much choice, so little money.

Saw Brenda at the Jazz Cafe last night. She shared the bill with Chris Clarke (who was surprisingly good), Jack Ashford's funk brothers and Mable John. Only sang four songs and would have loved to have seen a whole evening of her stuff. Superb evening from my favourite female Motown artiste. Bumped into quite a few soulies last night and it was packed but surprised not to see more.
