  1. Actually 'a great boogaloosoul record' first.
  2. Pottsy has one for sale/offers in the sales section
  3. I've always loved the funky edge of things played on the Northern scene and I love funk for its own sake, anyway, BUT, I find a lot of what's played as funk on this scene all sounds like the same record with just a different label. Have I turned into my parents?
  4. Unless he can prove you've received it (recorded delivery etc) both ebay and paypal will side with you and you'll get your money back. It might be worth telling the seller you've posted this on here to see if they change their tone. Don't have all the facts but his reaction sounds a bit 'over the top' to me. Best of luck.
  5. I liked the clip so much I've just bought myself a copy. Happy soul music at it's best. Cheers Ian
  6. I've got a copy of Rudy Love that I'd give to a good home for £300
  7. Boogaloo

    huh

Blimey, I'd flog mine for a grand.
  8. Babba Brookes - the jerk - gay feet Jimmy Ricks - bad man of Missouri - baton Give us a buzz/pm if you've got either with prices. Cheers
  9. I can't comment for the scooter scene as I'm not a scooterist but I was very pleasantly surprised at the reaction to the tunes I played at Hipshaker on the IOW rally. Probably a bit more left field than my usual set and it all seemed to go down spiffingly well. Really enjoyed it with plenty of people digging rare and classic sounds in equal measure. This may have more to do with the fact that it was the IOW weekend but I've found that over the 12 years I've been back on the soul scene (and the 9 years I've been running Boogaloosoul) I've noticed loads of scooter guys and girls have definitley maturing in the musical tastes from being just oldies vultures to apprecialting more eclectic sounds.
  10. Well, I for one am pleeeeezed that Bobby has hit that price as it puts Latin Soul/Boogaloo back in the limelight. Funny thing is I had it in my sales box a couple of months ago for a lot less than was sold on John's auction and was told that "I'd never pay that for a record I could have bought for £20 20 years ago". How we laughed. There's still some cracking Latin bubbling around at great prices if you can find 'em. Here's a few to consider and I reckon any of these could be as big as Bobby or Hector: Pepe Fernandez - Having Fun Ray Barretto - New York Soul Orchestra Harlow - El Exigente Ray Medina - Head´s Head (not cheap but you can't leave it out) Freddie and Henchie - Biscuits and Buttermilk Afro Blues Quintet - La la la la la Johnny Zamot - I got that feeling Ray Rodriquez - Oh, that's nice Gran Combo - Gran Combo's Boogaloo Widfredo Figuera - Monkey see
  11. I didn't think there was an official 'white demo' of this. Don't the real demos have the same label as the issues but with the words DJ Copy printed on them? I could be wrong
  12. Hiya Folks Just missed a copy on ebay this week so if anyone's got a spare copy in great playing condition pm me with a set price. Cheers M'dears
  13. Don't wish to apply this to anyone on this thread as I've not read many of the postings but I do think the way we sell and buy records on the scene generally bizzare. If I went into a clothing shop and tried on a jumper, said I loved it and said I'll be back later to buy it; I'd not expect to be arrested for not coming back. I also wouldn't be surprised if the shop had sold out if I returned the next day. What does surprise me is the haste some sellers post 'sold' or 'on hold' after listing their sales. On one hand it's nice to let people know your sales have been successful but it puts off potential bidders if they see it's been sold or is on hold. Personally I never put sold or on hold on any of my lists due to the fact that you do get people who's eyes and wants lists are bigger than their paypackets. Not something I get angry about either. I let buyers know that if I don't get the money then the record isn't theirs and I'm still open to offers later. Many times I've had requests for tunes I listed many months previously which I could have listed as sold at the time but didn't get the dosh. My advice, for what it's worth, is don't count a record is sold untill you withdraw the money from your paypal account or until the cheque is cashed. It's always worked for me. I thangyou.
  14. Just missed one for £78 about 2 years ago but have'nt seen any copy sold for less than £250 since then. Great tune.
  15. The Boogaloos are in. There should deffo be more in Paris - great city. Looking forward to it. Let's hope there's a big crowd for it.
  16. Bloody bargain but the market decides doesn't it. Good luck with your search mate. Got one for sale at £250 but I'm not desperate to sell it any less. Come back to me if you don't find one. Cheers
  17. ....... Whaaaaaat so I could have got more than the £25 I sold if for then Glad you're enjoying it, mate.
  18. It's not a coincidence that there's little of no comments from the South East soul clubs. I know lots of the promoters 'dahn ere' have listed their nights with Chrissie who sends out regular updates on the clubs in the region and has lead to the least amount of clashing clubs for ages. Personally I've cut down the number of nights I do by half this year as I'd rather run 6 really good ones rather than 12 OK ones. Seems to be working. Not rocket science either.
  19. Hiya Looking for a mint ISSUE of this one on Stomp ~Town. I've checked popsike for prices so have a good idea what it goes for. Will consider less than mint at the appropriate knock down price. By the way I'm NOT desperate for it and can wait a few years until my conditions are met. pm with confidence.
  20. ............. and you'd be lucky to pick one up for less than £400.
  21. What is this going for now?
  22. Hiya Paul. Got one in super dooper conditioin for £175.
  23. Hiya Got a gold issue in super condition for £500 if you're interested. Cheers
  24. Got a demo for £200 if you're still looking.
  25. You could have my issue for £100 if you're interested.
