Curtis Mayfield - Move On Up?
-
I have to agree with Peoples in Detroit. Ask if you can go upstairs as there was a lot of unsorted stuff and I pulled out a New Holidays - Yes No maybe So in pretty clean shape and gobbled it up when I was told the price. There were lots of interesting things there but as the wife was waiting and I could not convince to have a wander round down town Detroit I only had an hour or so there. I keep meaning to go back. If the US thrifts are anything like the Canadian ones if you are not there when the records come out you do not have much chance

Millionaires - Never For Me?
Cheapsiderecords replied to Cheapsiderecords's topic in Look At Your Box
I was actually commenting on the Canadian, I gathered it was a re=press. Either way, I had never seen it before or anything else on this label -
Never seen this before, seller says Canadian press? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Millionaires-Never-For-Me-b-w-Shy-One-Shirley-Ellis-45-/331256519913?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item4d206d5ce9

Tonite - Northern Soul Bbc Living For The Weekend
Cheapsiderecords replied to Mike's topic in All About the SOUL
Does any one see Stuart Cosgrove around any more? Maybe this is something he could pull together with Channel 4? We could even have a series by decade? Maybe leave out the celebs who weren't actually there as well. -

Local vinyl emporium has just found a copy of this and I am going in on Tuesday to try and get it off him for a decent price. Also, a minty Mighty Pope - If You Want A Love Affair. He has actually just acquired 12,000 45's for $300!!!!! and these 2 were what he has pulled out. I am going to plough through the lot on Tuesday - who knows what else might be in there?

Henry Lumpkin - Soul Is Taking Over - Buddah
Cheapsiderecords replied to Patto's topic in Record Wants
Shame it has to be a UK dealer, I was going to offer you mine for a buck and pay the shipping - oh well, never mind! -
Just a quick update, Kop's has opened another store up on Bloor Street but there is no, or very little Soul 45's there, stick to the Queen Street store. Cosmos has moved from the store with the basement (I used to love it down there) and all the 45's are now all over the new store. He will use the internet to price things but I still manage to get some nice bits and bobs now and again. Last time he pulled out a new crate that he had just got and it was packed with rare Cleveland Funk and Soul 45's but they were out of my price range. There are lots of stores on Queen St West and Kensington Market, College Street, Yonge Street (all in reasonably close proximity to each other) but do not spend to much time on them but it is still worth popping your head in and asking.

Not all soul but paid a visit to a part time dealer in London, Ontario and walked out with 85 45's for $110. I even got UK Reggae and Soul 45's on Stateside, Direction and Dynamics which I am keeping. 2 just finished today - https://www.ebay.com/itm/321462176716?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1561.l2649 and https://www.ebay.com/itm/321462172304?ssPageName=STRK:MESOX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1561.l2649 Everything I have listed at the moment came from him!

When are you going to be there? I have a table at the big record show on Dixie Road with approx 1000 soul, funk, reggae, r&b 45's at $5 each. Next show is October 19th. Henry's warehouse in Scarborough is worth a visit. Here is a link to the record shows in the GTA although they do not start again until the autumn - https://www.vibrations.ca/record-shows/2014-show-list Kops on Queen still has lots of soul and he does have a few Northern boxes as well. Cosmos on Queen and the other Cosmos store can be fun for a few hours but be warned, the Northern stuff is not priced so you have to leave them with him to price and he will use the internet for pricing. It is worth it if you are looking for a couple of things for your collection but not if you are looking to resell. There is another store called Grasshopper Records, he is on face book, that could be worth a visit but, again the stuff is not priced. I pulled a decent pile of reggae and soul last time I was there but condition and price could also be an issue. There is another book store - Pandemonium - that has a decent stock of records and last time I was there I got a couple of nice items as well - Masqueraders on Bell being one of them. I will also gladly meet you and bring some 45's and albums when you are in town or you can come out to Waterdown.

No pics I am afraid but we have just got back from a few days travelling through the Carolinas. Whilst on the beach I was splashing in the surf and I was lucky enough to see a Dolphin pod go swimming by, maybe 50 feet in front of me! -

Oh dear! -
RIP Bob A real testament to his passion for our music is the amount of people who have nothing but good things to say about him. Never met him but did chat through email a couple of times and sell him some tunes through Soul Source and ebay. Sad day.

Allan Sisters I'm With The Downtown Crowd
Cheapsiderecords replied to Rob Bailey's topic in Record Wants
Funnily enough I sold a copy of the Drummer Man 45 on Op-Art at the local Record Show on Sunday? Anyone else think it is strange the 45 came out on a different Canadian label than the album? Still waiting to find a copy of the album -
I have a Roy Hamilton 45 on the same label that was confirmed as a boot on here as well - any others known?
-
I can tell you there is (was) a Melba Moore upstairs at Kop's in Toronto, quote cheap as well, around $40.

Sold a battered test pressing for $150 some time ago. I do know Martin Koppell had a copy a year or so ago as he offered it to me but remember a price I cannot.
