Surely northern soul is an umbrella term to house different styles of black music with in a scene? Soul and Rnb being the most prolific. IMO the tracks mentioned thus far are Rnb and not soul. So I think your absolutely correct

Was it recorded for the northern soul scene??? No I reckon it was recorded to maybe peak in the Rnb chart of the day. Jimmy Frasier didn't wake up one day in 65 and say I'm going to record a northern soul track!!!!! In fact the US government wanted this released and to chart in the Rnb charts.
