How northern helps us as we get older😕
6T's Mojoman replied to Greedy Mick's topic in All About the SOUL
Really sorry to hear Mick's story, it made me realise how lucky I am, not as old as Roburt, but not far off & old age has resulted only in knee problems so far. Powerful vid that was posted about Henry in the nursing home! Wonder how many of us would respond in the same way in a nursing home, listening to Art Freeman et al. Track that takes me back is hearing Contours - Misunderstanding for the first time, we'd just arrived on our initial visit to the Down Broadway club in Sheffield which filled the floor, probably in 68. From then on it had me hooked. Moved to Leics. in 79 & lost touch with the music until Rudzie who ran Boogaloo records shop persuaded me back to the various clubs he was involved with in Leics. in the late 80's /90's. Don't get to many events now, although I'm still collecting and there are plenty on local do's, I must make the effort to get out more! -
I don't sell many records, but i've had a similar problems of a record arriving broken to a customer in Germany, one posted the same day to Portugal took longer to arrive but was intact. I used the same packing in both parcels & sent all the details they required, proof of purchase etc. photo's from the customer of the packing & broken record & heard nothing. I phones them on several occasions for an update only to be told "I'll look into it for you" The final time about 3 months later the P.O. guy I spoke to said "I think you've waited long enough" and I got a refund within a few days. I think they deliberately do nothing & hope you give up, I had to pester virtually weekly at the end to get a result, don't give up that's what they are hoping for. I no longer send abroad, as I don't think the risk is worth all the hassle if there are problems . Good Luck

Articles: Footie & 45s Weekends By Dave Moore
6T's Mojoman replied to Dave Moore's topic in Front Page News & Articles
What Luck & what a story, a once in a lifetime opportunity Dave, bet it was squeeky B T in that week waiting to return, i'm so glad that they went to you as a collector and stalwart of the scene, & not a dealer who would probably offered peanuts for taking the whole lot off his his hands, whilst "doing him a favour" in the process. Well Done Dave -

Being a thoughtful boyfriend at the time, & remembering a time when she had a close call nearly running out of petrol, so one of the presents she received lovingly wrapped for Christmas in the 80's was a petrol can , can't have put be in the bad books for too long as we have been married for 33yrs, but I am reminded about it at regular intervals, especially at this time of the year.

I've been looking for this song for 10 years - please help
6T's Mojoman replied to a topic in All About the SOUL
Any chance it might be this ? Ray Charles - You Are Just About To Lose Your Clown -
Anyone have memories of the Scotch club in Torquay, used to visit on the summer works shut downs in the early 70's, great music, first heard Earl Van Dyke 6 x 6 before it was reissued, Impressions - You Always Hurt Me amongst others, great DJ who always played a version of the William Tell overture as the final record, trumpet solo blasting out. Normally a great crowd only there for the music but it was the first & only time i have seen two females scrapping, one tried to glass the other & had to be dragged away!

Forgot about the Anchor, never went across the locks, thanks for the memory jog Derek

Went to the club a few times from Sheffield around 69/70 & saw the awesome Edwin Starr there , we used to knock around with a group of local girls, great club, think it was a converted barn, as you had to go up outside wide wooden stairs to get to the Wheel entrance & once inside downstairs to the dance floor & stage, not licensed, so you got a pass out & went to the Ship or Red Lion, if memory serves me well. Great times in that club, there was also a club in Worksop around the same time, but can't remember the name of that one.
