  4. QUOTE(shute @ Mar 6 2005, 07:15 PM) PRESTATYN. S**T............... IMHO.......... Gonna get some sleep now.......... Transfered from SSCDT - Shute Thinking back, maybe sounding a bit harsh there ! Did nothing for me this year, except meet loads of SS there, which was nice Shame we didn't have a group photo when we all met up for a few mins at the bar on Saturday night. For me the artist this year were not up to standard, IMHO. Seen a few of them before over the years and still doing the same set but sounding older, no disrespect intended to the artist, but please give us something new, I need something new. Respect due to The Midnight Hour Team for all the hard work they have done over the years to brink us the best weekender (IMO), BUT 2005 seemed to be mondaine, if thats the correct wording, for me.......Lets hope next year will bring something special, like in the first 3yrs of this weekender. No dought people will argue with my comments, but hey, I don't give a sh*t this is just one old soulies personal opinion, like it or lump it

  16. From a guy in Detroit................. I know, personally, that a lot of the acetates I saw have been sold on E-Bay-so they must have been "Stolen" from Motown. I just hope that none of the master tapes were taken. But, even in 1973 there were tapes missing. Also, probably many of the Motown Record File and Jobete Music Record File records must have been "lifted" without approval of The Company. Many of those were "pulled" records that only had 6 pressing plant masters pressed up. That includes the Frank Wilson(Soul), Andantes(VIP) and probably The Charters(Melody), Andre Williams and Gino Parks (Miracle) and several others.

  20. "Blues And Soul" magazine have reported that a Chuck Jackson Anthology will be released in September. The article states that the 2CD set will include his motown work plus around 21 unreleased masters. The release date should coincide with a UK appearance in early October, when he performs at a northern/Motown show...
  21. Emailed Manship a few days ago about this with my info' and he replied in bold letters .... see below... From Simon Soussan's "Collection"??? YES He bought the actual record in L.A., From Tom Depiero and sold it in England, NO almost immediately upon his return. He may have gotten a tape of it quite a while earlier than he got the record (but I'm not sure of that). Was it heard in the clubs for a long time before the real Soul record was sold in U.K? YES IT WAS I really doubt that it was cut in 1965. SO DO I. john @ John Manship Records Website www.raresoulman.co.uk Email john@raresoulman.co.uk
