  5. Keb played it down the phone to me bout 10yrs ago so guessin he was one of the first to play, would never say a def first cause someone might jump at me
  6. Hi Dave, get well soon my friend, hope to see you soon, Arthur & Maria xx
  7. I'd even go as far as to say "in the same street", guys i spoke to were so insular or perhaps it was us brits who were just too darn nosey 8-)
  8. Yes thats the one Benji, as Simon said things were very different in the early 80's, without the likes of the bowl you had to get on yr bike & find em yr self
  9. Just reading Steve's post & i know Sam had this twice ( 2nd time off clarkey's action 15ish yrs ago ), so pretty sure Sam got Poke's bout 83, jeez such a long time ago!
  10. It went back to John when he sold up, in fact all his 45's were supposed to go back but Rich Broughton had some bits for sale at stafford one night & i got the bros gilmore for £25, boy was J A miffed , a few weeks later Sam & i went to soul bowl & bought most of the choice bits, among them being for Sam, K Moses ( i'm sure but i'll check ), Mark Four, Horizon & for me Raj, Split Decision & others i can't recall, all tho between £50 to £100 each
  11. I allways figured it was a Poke record along with mark four, raj, horizon & 1 or 2 other tasty bits, all from the bowl of course
  12. Funny how the G copy has gone to vg- are they not one & the same?
  13. Twas indeed Shaun, was that the one owned by/ or had some connection to Van Mcoys sister/manager/wife/uncle bla bla bla , can't for the life of me remember, it was opposite a Mcdonalds tho
  14. The one i found i traded with Sam who then let John Manship have it, this would be i guess 97/98, i hadn't at this time really got back into the northern thing (& was never a big fan of this track) but it was Rob Thomas who told me that the copy i had was probably a rousser test press, $3 well spent i suppose
  15. Don't recall Nev playin this, infact if pushed i'd say he had sadly passed away before this was found ( got mine from the bowl circa 78 )
  16. Think you will find that the Duke Browner was once owned by a lancastrian lady ( named Elaine & who is my ex ) who is quite bemused by it all
  17. Nice one Nev , Rons manager tells me that he was 15 when he sang this song, i find that totaly amazing
  18. Butch's "Mighty Lovers" for me!, even lost a nice european gig when the promoter pulled me to one side to ask if i'd play at his club, i said sorry gotta dance to this, luckily got asked again a year or so later .
  19. I've known Gary & Ronnie for many years & have been proud to call them my friends, they have always there for me when i needed them, not going to add any more other to say, Gary you will be missed, rest easy buddy, Arthur.
  20. used to play cheryl ann with the pic sleeve at snaith, good lookin gal
  21. Hi, not done that before, i'll try get some help on how to do it, old fart that i am
  22. I have an lp version by Al Thomas on a tiny label that Keb gave me some years ago, i think its great, bit more uptempo than the other versions, anyone know of it?. Al is female by the way & I'd hazard a guess at 75ish.
  23. sold mine at rock city for £8 ( 1985 tho ) to be honest it never really moved me. Think it came from the big batch of 70's that Sam got off Tim, hundreds of em at 50p each, Sam being the profiteer he is charged me £1.
  24. Holy Moses, now that is something, and i mean in a very bad way
  25. Yup! they still are eh Steve , but when you've gotta have em, the things we do , best, Arthur.
