Yeah had some great nights at the saints,where some of the big seventies records were being played and appreciated,not forgetting the "on the real side sessions" upstairs at the saints,great memories,on the parkers thread derek pearson has some photos which he might....eventually share with us Mick
  9. chull from preston was one of the original DJ's,think the venue on whitworth street was the gallery,some great two room nights with various themes and quite a few northern nights in the early nineties,the diversity of the playlist was something to behold,pre-release exclusives,seventies monsters,beloyd,almeta latimore etc,steppers and sixties classics like barbara lewis "hello stranger" all recieved with equal enthusiasm,sure derek pearson will add to this,being a regular attender as well Mick

Wigan,march 1974,got the train from victoria station in manchester,know what you mean ged was a bit intimidating at first,the first record I remember hearing on the first night,velvet satins"nothing can compare to you" seem to remember,there was a few scrapes when "the bikers" got on at ince......happy days Mick

I used to go quite regularly to rafters,seem to remember them running friday and saturday every week! couldn't imagine that happening now,john grant was famous for the special effects at the blackpool mecca all dayers(smoke and mini explosions)think john was from rochdale area originally and worked for british rail,rufus was another jazz funk club around that time in manchester,colin curtis used to do the entire night on his own,berlin at the back of deansgate was another in the mid eighties,will add more,searching the mental flypaper for the info Mick
