Hi salmon,yes pete thorpe always known for his great love/knowlege of the music,as you say more into the deep side of soul,think he took early retirement from the fire service and sold his collection about five years ago,but I did hear he'd started collecting again,remember you lending me your copy of the uptights"shy guy"'cause it was my favourite record at the time circa 79/80 and before you ask I did give it you back...coughs.. best Mick Howard

  13. got one off col kidson at king's hall earlier this year,I was so pleased didn't even try to bargain him down,think it was £40,had two copies with t'other B side couldn't shift 'em then sold both copies within two nights Mick

  15. yes seem to remember miranda being not best pleased at having to drive over to wigan with the breakdown card that someone...........cough left back in sunny reddish,much more civilised day out at salford,some great anecdotes left in the guest book wasn't there and dave withers on the original footage looking very youthful and sounding very eloquent,if you've not been to the salford exhibition it's worth a look Mick

  19. sounds bang on alan,haven't really kept any memorabilia but do remember edwin starr inviting some of the dancers on stage just to watch them spin,remember being disapointed with jackie wilson's appearance and walking off up to M's but as we later found out he was really ill at the time,that was '75 wasn't it?   20. without doubt the best live act to have appeared there absolutely blew me away,what made it even more astounding was the show was nearly cancelled because she had such a severe throat infection she could hardly talk on the day of the gig,somebody should bring her back over to appear at one of the weekenders,did anyone go to one of edwin starrs early appearances at the casino,possibly '74,had a really funky backing band called TCB later went on to fame and fortune as rose royce Mick

I used to go to the seven stars in heywood,heard many of the big sounds of that time circa72/73 courtesy of some of the older lads who used to go to the pendulum and vava's remember hearing sandi sheldon,just brothers and many more all mixed in with the pop stuff of that time,groundbreaking stuff eh the first across the board night out lol,agree with the list used to see these every week in both ralph's shops in manchester and soul galore in the oasis market,happy days Mick

  23. great record,you should look out for his philadelphia international album from where the track originally comes from, said track re-issued on a 12" in the last few years with teddy p on the flip Mick
