  1. chull from preston was one of the original DJ's,think the venue on whitworth street was the gallery, some great two room nights with various themes and quite a few northern nights in the early nineties, the diversity of the playlist was something to behold,pre-release exclusives, seventies monsters, beloyd, almeta latimore etc, steppers and sixties classics like barbara lewis "hello stranger" all recieved with equal enthusiasm, sure derek pearson will add to this, being a regular attender as well Mick
  2. pretty sure it only got a 45 release on UK Atlantic? had three copies over the years with and without centres

  13. I used to go quite regularly to rafters, seem to remember them running friday and saturday every week! couldn't imagine that happening now, john grant was famous for the special effects at the blackpool mecca all dayers(smoke and mini explosions)think john was from rochdale area originally and worked for british rail, rufus was another jazz funk club around that time in manchester, colin curtis used to do the entire night on his own, berlin at the back of deansgate was another in the mid eighties, will add more, searching the mental flypaper for the info Mick
  14. The DJ's job is both to inform and entertain in equal measure, done correctly the DJ's enthusiasm for the records he's playing should be picked up by the audience, agree with shane, roger banks is a great example of this, seen many a DJ with mega bucks collections looking totally disinterested while doing a set,use of the microphone intelligently creates atmosphere, golden rule, limit the alcohol intake, stylus on slipmat sounds sh*t Mick
