  1. Well after a Block Buster Anniversary Event, we look forward to March 15th as we roll along the Soulful Highway and look forward to welcoming back Roger Banks as our guest DJ !!! Always a few surprises from Roger via Classic Album only cuts and forgotten gems!! Chris Penn is also back behind the decks, as a former Resident at Ashton, he knows the score. We'll be adding some tasty tracks over the coming weeks to Whet the Appetite!!
Ashton Ukrainian Club Saturday February 15th 8th Anniversary Celebration and boy did we celebrate!!! I arrived fashionably late after a Family Birthday Meal, gutted to have missed Pete Hollander DJ Farewell set!! The place was heaving with the place full to the rafters. This is a short summary of the night, I'm sure Mike Roche will give a more in depth look and track listings later, it was all a bit of a blur, great to catch up with our good friends Ann Mundey + Tony Mundey. I even managed a few dances (more power to my Arthritic Knees) !! Great to see the Rugby All Nighter team in attendance, Sian, Tom Romark hope you liked it!! Robbo was on the decks when we arrived, with a full dance floor in sync with every tune, top man!! Mick H took to the stage at 11pm an hour of pure quality, United Sounds, Sharon McMahon (gotta find another guy) Lee McKinney + The Magnetics "holding on" Buddy Smith "when you lose the one you love " WOWSER!! Unfortunately Nicey Chris Churm didn't join Smashie Simon Ingham for the double deck finale set!! What a great last hour Johnny Gilliam "room full of tears" Johnny Rogers, Troy Dodds, Bobby Rich and many more, full dance floor to the final record !! Once again thanks to The Ashton Faithful, once again turning out in force, it makes all the hard work so worth it!! Keep your eye on here and Soul-Source for details of our March event with Roger Jenny Banks and Chris Penn as our guest DJs!! February Anniversary 25 Video.mp4

  3. The Weekend is now on the horizon and Phenomenal interest in our Anniversary Celebrations, this Saturday February 15th at Ashton Ukrainian Club !! Pete Hollander will be carrying on his 70th Birthday Celebrations and will be back behind the decks after a momentous set last year. Memories of South Cheshire Soul Club and the Winsford Niters !! Our DJ Debutant and Headliner DJ is Nottingham's Mick H, still heavily involved in The Boat Club Soul Sessions and was also one of the resident DJ team at Lifeline. Lots of interest in his spot already!! Returning again the ever popular Robbo, you can be sure of a busy dancefloor, for the man who has a keen ear for a TUNE!! Ashton Ukrainian's very own "Fixer" Simon Ingham will be doing the last hour this time and I can promise some Storming Soul for you, with a few Surprises!! Phil Dunn will be opening the show, hitting the ground running at 7pm, don't forget we have an extension by kind permission of our lovely bar staff and Club Steward!! We run 7pm-1am and just £6 admission pay on the door! Chris Churm will be doing a much anticipated mid evening set and requests are already pouring in, can't wait!! Due to high interest already, probably advisable to arrive early to guarantee a table in the main room, or a sales table in our busy lounge/bar area. Our in house speakers, make sure you don't miss a beat !! The event page thread on soul-source has some quality sound bytes for you to check out!! The Ashton Faithful, never cease to amaze us, creating that oh so important atmosphere and it hasn't gone unnoticed our first time attendees are growing and growing on a monthly basis and for that Team Ukrainian thanks you, Respect!!!
  4. The Weekend is now within touching distance, hoping Mick H packs this in the play box!!
  5. A Real Special Anniversary Night awaits, not forgetting Pete Hollanders Belated 70th Birthday celebrations. Just to confirm it is a pay on the door event and of course six hours of the best music on the Planet. Simon might be persuaded to dust off Stone Classics like this!!
  6. Slow, moody and Oozing atmosphere, just like Ashton Ukrainian, another stand out selection from Robbo!!
  7. In the Ashton Ethos, quality regardless of Price, one for the last hour from Simon!!
  8. A Perennial favourite from Robbo still doing the business on the dancefloor!!!
  9. The Start of a new week, in the lead up to the event, anticipation of a busy night is high, with off the scale feedback already. Looking forward to Lord Ashton AKA Chris Churm, doing an earlier evening set and our "Dark Horse" maybe pulling west coast gems like this out WHOOOOOSH!!

  11. Ashton Ukrainian Club Anniversary night, draws ever closer!! Saturday February 15th is the date, please note we have secured a later finish, we will be running 7pm-1am courtesy of our Brilliant Steward and bar staff. So that's six hours of Soulful Heaven and just £6 admission pay on the door. Probably advisable to arrive early to either guarantee your seat in the main room or the lounge/bar area for your vinyl sales!! Headlining this month and making his DJ debut, Nottingham's Mick H, so many people looking forward to that!! Pete Hollander will be back behind the decks and STILL celebrating his landmark Birthday and why not? Robbo will be making the short hop across East Manchester from Sunny Gorton, expect the unexpected, anything could happen, as he dives into an enviable playbox amassed over the years!! Chris Churm makes a rare foray into a middle evening set, he still manages to stun us with "never knew he had that 45"!! He really is the original Dark Horse, always quality selections!! Phil Dunn will be opening the show, again quality evergreens and a few left fielders!! Stockport's Favourite Son Simon "The Finisher" Ingham will be finishing off, what already promises to be a "special night"!! As ever hats off to the loyal, Ashton Faithful and to our first time attendees, you make the night and atmosphere what it is !! 18. After a momentous event at Culcheth's Lowton Anniversary Event, we're back on the horse. Killer R+B from the play box of Simon Ingham !!
What a fitting way to celebrate The Lowton Anniversary at Culcheth. A full house and three busy rooms with quality music, throughout. We arrived mid afternoon and the place was already filling up and people continued to arrive into the early evening!! So many quality spins in every room, all styles catered for, what's not to like? I'm sure we'll see a few playlists later, when everyone's recovered a bit. Hats off to Baz M for what must have been a logistical nightmare, three sound rigs and a whole host of DJs to organise. It all came together in fine style!!! My contributions in the Rare(dark) Room 10pm-11pm bit of a mixed bag!! First Faux Pas in the handover thanked Ian Wills instead of Ian Cunliffe lol I think I was disorientated !! Lee Williams "it's everything about you" Buddy Connor "when you're alone" The Dramatics "your love was strange" Geater Davis "my love is so strong" Lattimore Brown "sweet desiree" Betty Moorer "speed up" Edwin Starr "my kind of woman" Elbie Parker "please keep away" Hollidays "I lost you" The Vontells "ta hula hoop" Melvin Davis "I must love you" September Jones "I'm coming home" The Gambrells "you better move" The Dushons "you better think it over" Choice of Colour "your love" Keamus Setna Barbara Mason "you better stop it" Cookie Scott "misled" meant to play the Flip Mike Roche Beloyd "get into your life" Skip Jackson "I'm onto you girl" Andrea Henry "I need you like a baby" The Sparkels "try love" Dean Courtney "love you just can't walk away" Long may it continue!!
  19. Deffo some great recollections from The Kenwood Suite, as shared on a recent Dean Anderson "sound of soul" radio show, monster tracks like Johnny Rogers "make a change" played in the first hour, just to set the mood like
  20. Ending the week on a high, mid sixties Philly written by Norman Johnson and a massive spin at The Casino for Richard Searling and a monster spin for Robbo!!!
