Looking forward to welcoming back Grumpy Soul Residents Phil Threlfall and Jumpin' Joan behind the decks, expect a healthy slice of Stafford, Shotts biggies and never afraid to dig deep and showcase some under the radar quality cheapies, just how we like it!! Add to that two Legends from the Halcyon days at Wigan Casino Ian Wills Ashton Ukrainian Regular and well known as one of the resident DJs at Mr M's, there is so much more to Ian, a real knowledgeable guy, with a collection to match!! Tim Ashibende needs no introduction a well known face from the casino days and along with Butch was one of the original crate diggers in the US unearthing many of today's big sounds!! Still very active on the scene today after a recent DJ spot at the 100 club. You just know it's gonna be good, October 19th, put that date in your diary!!
    "Sweating like a Brick Layers Labourer" (that got your attention) was just one of the comments Natalie Nicholls from another great night at Ashton Ukrainian Club. A quieter night than normal, but remained tip top, musically once again right up there with the best!! Phil Dunn got the proceedings underway, Terry Callier, Anna King sounded just great. Props to Nigel Rothwell outstanding set on his Ashton Debut, blending 60s bangers William Cummings, Ghetto Children( So Char) and Richard S old Natural Four c/u Gifted Four "are you choosing" sounded the business, great knowledge Derek Smith !! Chris Churm followed WOW Ivy Jo, Jackey Beavers "a love that never grows old" Tokays + Eddie Kendricks "date with the rain" sublime 70s Soul !! John Parker once again WHAT a mix Force "Holy Moses" Admirations "you left me" The Cheques all went down a storm!! Team Ukrainian Fixer Si Ingham kept up the relentless pace Celebrities " I choose you" UK version "tastes sour, don't it" found favor with the dance floor and rightly so!! Rounding the night off in fine style and for me the Spot of the night Kev Murphy smashed it, keeping the dance floor moving to the last record Honey Bees "let's get together" a non too shabby way to end a great night, mixed in with The Camaros, Lester Tipton and many more, take a bow sir!! We have another great line up in October with The Grumpy Soul Crew Jumpin' Joan, Phil T and two Wigan Casino legends Ian Wills and Tim Ashibende, sound like your thing? I think so!!! Add to that Culcheth main man Kev Murphy with his extensive collection of all that's great in today's and the halcyon days Big Spins!! Stockport's Simon Ingham is raring to go, with some stunning recent acquisitions to WOW us all with !!! Motoring south down the M6 Nigel Rothwell is primed and ready with the ultimate blend of 60s/70s dancers should be good!! Team Ukrainian Regulars Chris Churm and Phil Dunn complete the line up.   16. Soulful September is in full swing, with some amazing events in the North West!! Nearly time for the next Ashton Ukrainian Club!! Saturday September 21st we do it all again with a top drawer DJ line for The Ashton Faithful!! Kev Murphy joins us again on the back of an amazing set at The recent Culcheth, expect a busy dancefloor for his spot!! Making the trip across The Pennines John Parker the man from the excellent Blind Pig Soul Club, not forgetting MOJO and some of Europe's hottest Weekenders gonna be another hour not to miss!! Culcheth Resident and Team Ukrainian "Fixer" Simon Ingham will be showcasing today's big sounds, expertly blended in with those quality cheapies you didn't know you wanted to dance to!!! MVP Resident Nigel Rothwell is primed and ready with the ultimate mix of 60s big hitters and 70s dancers!!! Chris Churm will be digging deep into the collection, we're hoping for another early evening barn stormer of a set!!! Phil Dunn provides the early soulful platters as the room fills up, talking of which, an early arrival is highly recommended!! The best value for money "soulful session awaits!!   20. Talking to Nige on Saturday at the recent Culcheth and he's really up for his debut set behind the decks at Ashton. As well as 60s bangers he has a love for the Soulful Seventies Dancers, they don't come much better than this!!

    Having missed the last couple of events at Culcheth it was great to be back! We arrived early doors to catch Baz M's early spot, a nice mix of lesser played gems Dave Hamilton's "Pisces Pace" sounded awesome!! and WHAT was the Funky Gospel dancer you finished with?? Deffo on the wants list!! Team Ukrainian's Simon Ingham was quality all the way Henry Moore "you really grab me" Bobby Rich "there's a girl somewhere" and many more, top drawer mate! Gorton's finest Robbo was making a welcome return a real mixed bag everything from Kelly Brothers "crying days are over" to Beloyd ,Joe Matthews "ain't nothing" and everything in between!! That man Soul Sam was headlining and didn't disappoint, Willie Dale, Joseph Webster, Zodiacs "hey rough nut" and rounding off with all the biggies from the latter days of The Casino "Mr Soul" John + The Weirdest, Jimmy Bo Horne "I just can't speak" was the icing on the cake!! Kev Murphy rounded off a great night Don Varner "Mo Jo Hannah" Del Tours "sweet and lovely" Charles Mintz "running back" were the stand outs for me!! All in all a great night and bonus the M60 shenanigans had calmed down for the journey home!!
