flip of minnie jones is the same backing as the jones brothers, all must be inter connectedAs Bob said all are Lee Silver produced, same group as Pentagons-Sutter/Corduroys-Hale and also Primers on Hale too, also Minnis Jones on Sugar has same backing as 21st Century -
Yes I saw it (and that's why I remembered how good it is), but Liam didn't answer to my PM so I guess it was sold..
remember buying this and the soul notes "how long will it last" off rod shard's stall in afflecks £5 each, that was a few years ago,but can't see where the current price is coming from, must be loads of copies out there

Mini-Nighter at bury town hall, next month friday December 16th,8pm-4am,two rooms, well worth the trip(sorry blatant plug)I'm definately starting to feel the effects of Saturday niters these days. Took me all last week to recover from Middleton I've ticked Fridays because i remember how good it felt when the Dome was on a Friday (yes i know it was a soul night, but it finished at 3 so mini-niter really) and then had the whole weekend to recover then maybe a soul night on the saturday.Be nice to now do niters Fridays and soul nights Saturday maybe? Although it feels to me like there are more and more niters now, and more to come next year, and less and less soul nights.
How about more mini-niters finishing at 3 or 4?

It is of course the flip of Hypnotized - a must have in its own right - on the US and UK releases but of course you need the french 45 - which has the even better album only track (elsewhere in the world!) - 'You Can't Take It'
Mike
awesome track! got it on her french EP with groovy pic sleeve, still to have it's day, with a more up front production than the album cut

Mel & Tim do a glorious track called "keep the faith" on the same album that has "forever & a day" on it as well, been at work since 6am so will have to check which album later, veryYeah Godin deffo signed off that way - will have to check the original origin though.I had a record called "Keep the faith" once - it was a garage type thingy mid 60s.

just brothers (allegedly)"go on and laugh" AWESOME!!!!!!!https://planetrecords.podbean.com/Had to split this as it was about 70 minutes long:
the first part features things like Ray Agee, Linda Queen, Soul City, Devotions, Marion Stewart etc., the second features Elliot Small, The Commands, Diane Lewis, Don Ray, a couple of unissued tracks and some good underplayed oldies.
Something to listen to on a boring monday!
The other podcasts are now working again. Two ska ones, two featuring serious Northern rarities and a brilliant old Wigan Casino tape as well.
You can also use the website to listen to them www.raresoul.co.uk but the most recent ones aren't on the Planet site, only the podbean site at the top of this message
cheers Pete

Whilst having a rummage in the cupboard i came across an LP I forgot I had. It's called 'Boy meets girl', mine's on UK Stax from 1969.
It's a compilation of duets from such pairings as; Pervis staples & Carla Thomas, Eddie Floyd & mavis Staples, Eddie Floyd & Carla Thomas, Eddie Floyd & Cleotha Staples and a few other interesting pairings.
In my opinion it contains some superb tracks.
I tried to find some information on it and it would seem that in some cases it was a double lp although mine is a 15 track single.
All the tracks seem to be original compositions from what I can gather.
Does anyone else have any info on it? Is it one of the rarer Stax LP's?
I'll post up a couple of tracks that caught my eye/ear.
gary
I've got eddie floyd/mavis staples "never, never let you go" on a stax 45,which is also great
