Hats off to Janette for putting this all together. Happy to play a small part in the proceedings. I think we all have our recollections of Paul and his wicked sense of humour. Still hard to believe and miss our phone calls, he would have me in stitches. Still have a few of my purchases from Paul in my collection, pretty certain one or two will get a spin on this momentous occasion, see you there!!

This always gets a spin from Robbo ,cheap as chips but priceless in soulful quality!!

On a super busy night on the soul calendar, it was great to see so many people making Culcheth their choice of venue. A really busy night over both rooms and quality was the watchword with all DJs digging deeper into the boxes. The 30 minute rotating slots worked well and gave a great variety of styles and tempos to the playlists. Great to hear Ginger pulling out all the stops Walter and The Admirations, Antellects, Soul Incorporated "my proposal" and so many more. An interesting DJ experience with the decks at the top of the dancefloor, a deck peerers delight lol which added to the anticipation and atmosphere of the night. Hats off to Baz M for pulling all this together!! Long may it continue.

As we approach the end of summer, the sunshine feeling keeps burning strong at Ashton Ukrainian Club. Saturday September 17th brings another great night in prospect!! Joining Phil Dunn and our main man Chris Churm this month we welcome one of the scene's best loved characters Robbo for his debut behind the decks and a welcome return for Tony Mac and coming over 't hill from that there Yorkshire Gibby and Colin Wood to complete another quality line up. The bar was set high in August with an amazing night, that ticked all the boxes (no pressure guys) lol The night runs 7.30pm-00.30 admission just £5 pay on the door. Amazing feedback and anticipation already for the place that's becoming THE place to be on the third saturday in the month. As ever early arrival is highly recommended, see you there!!

Good chance it will get a spin on Saturday then

Mean moody mid tempo, just how we like it, the elusive 45 as a possible spin from Mr Ingham??

Perfect for the main room, criminally underplayed oldie with a non too shabby flip "I ain't playing baby", which I think was the original more preferred side

Yeah he did, it was my re-introduction to the scene, it was just up the road for me. BUT I seem to remember Dennis initially being part of the set up. There again I may be wrong?

Where to start?.........WOW!!! WHAT a night at Ashton Ukrainian Club, just when you thought it couldn't get any better, it did!!! The music was off the chain all styles and tempos played and as is tradition people dancing from the off right to the last record!! A night of celebration for me and my soulmate Karen Howard 35 years married officially tomorrow, we brought it forward and celebrated in fine style in the best company!! Great opening set from Phil Dunn Bobby Treetop sounding the business all over again, closely followed by main man Chris Churm quality all the way as you would expect, the ultimate professional, so unassuming, mate you played a blinder. Paul Johnson take a bow, smashed it out of the park, you had the dancefloor rocking from the first bars of Frank Foster, right through to 70s masterpiece Melvin Moore, loved it !! Mr "Detroit A Go Go" Phil Dick followed "two plus two" Don Gardner and so many more, just sublime!! Stockport's finest export Simon Ingham rounded the night off, no let up in the quality Thornton Sisters, Chuck Cockerham and many more, jaw dropping and knee dislocating lol!! Nice to catch up with Mathew Simpson and so many more New faces again coming to sample the unique atmosphere and wondering why they hadn't been before!! Another top line up in September, keep your eyes on the event page and soul-source for more details!!
