  4. Our very own Personal Trainer/Funky Drummer and non too Shabby DJ Stu Cheetham is back with us from his very busy live gig schedule and I know he will be requesting this Chicago Monster Spin !!
  5. ** Stop Press** Please note we are running a week early, due to club commitments at The Ukrainian Club !! This month is a North West Showcase, displaying the depth of quality DJs in the area!! Looking forward to welcoming back Ashton Regular Tony Mac and talking of who, provides our customary Monday Banger !!!
    On a crazy busy Saturday in the Soul Calendar, we had a great night at Ashton Ukrainian Club. Lots of events on, got to say a BIG thank you to our regulars, who made us your venue of choice, a slight dip in numbers, but the tunes and the Sound System sounded the business last night, crystal clear!! Phil Dunn looked to be enjoying himself with a great opening set, Joe Murphy "so blue" the stand out track for me. We went with a change in format with Simon"the fixer" Ingham doing an early 30mins set WOW The Gambrells "you better move" The Groovettes "think it over baby" and Shifty's old Des O'Connor c/u "hey girl", all before 8pm!! Lord Ashton Chris Churm also did an early 30mins set played some bangers The Specials "can't find another" New Yorkers "don't wanna be a fool" Barbara Jean + The Lyrics "any two can play" and many more. Local Collector/DJ Geoff Stubbs followed and played a few new to me? Mixed in with classics from Minnie Jones "shadow of a memory" Frank Dell, Bottom + Company, some classy selections!! Our man in the North East Chris Penn was up next and he didn't disappoint Volumes "ain't gonna give you up" Notations "trying my best to find her" Mark Lloyd "when I'm gonna find her" Rhonda Davis, Buddy Ace "screaming please" (you get the picture) Awesome set mate!! Roger Banks one of the most enthusiastic DJs on the scene followed some great girly dancers Liz Verdi, Sheila Ferguson "and in return" , mixed in with Leo Price, Alvin Cash "sweatin" AKA the old "you got me baby" c/u rocked the dancefloor, fine set Sir!! Simon Ingham finished the night off and WHAT a finishing spot Mac Staten, Nat Hall Cody Black "it's our time" tune after tune hitting the wheels of steel WHOOOSH!! Apologies no video this time, I was pre-occupied keeping The Belgrano Sisters in check, AKA Ann Mundey + Karen Howard naughty girls xx Normal service next month will resume ***Advance Warning" due to club commitments, we run a week early, next month. Saturday April 12th is the date for your diary. Roger has been in touch and really excited about his return to Ashton and as always a few surprises and memories of Hyde Botanical club, a much missed venue from the late 80s which Chris Churm was heavily involved with and memories of finding in a shop in Tameside multiple copies of this beauty !!!

Astounding feedback yet again, as this event goes from Strength to Strength thanks to The Ashton Faithful and our ever growing list of first time attendees!!! Roger Banks is really looking forward to Saturday, as are we, he's been doing a deep dive into the collection and an all action 60 minutes is guaranteed!! Chris Penn has been adding to his playbox, a few classic examples of all the guest DJs can be found via the link at the bottom of the post to our Soul Source event page thread, lots of RSVP for the event already!! Ashton Regular Geoff Stubbs will be back behind the decks, to showcase some quality Rare Soul 45s, look forward to that!! Phil Dunn will be opening the night up, before we dim the lights and light the blue touch paper for an evening of Soul Heaven!! "The Vinylfellas" AKA Chris Churm and Simon Ingham will be filling in the gaps, early doors, before providing a Silky Smooth finish to your evening!! We run 7pm-00.30 and just £6 admission pay on the door, gets you in on the action. Hope to see you all Saturday, BUT have a great night, whatever you choose to do!!!

  20. Just over a week to our Saturday March 15th date at Ashton Ukrainian Club !! Huge Buzz on the event already on here and Soul-Source, as promised we have another Quality DJ line up, as our way of a thank you to The Ashton Faithful !! Roger Banks as a former Tameside resident just up the road from the Club, knows a lot of the crowd from venues like The Concorde Suite Niters at Droylsden also Hyde Town Hall Niters and the much missed Hyde Botanical Club. Roger always entertains the crowd, with a wealth of experience behind the decks!! Chris Penn has been in touch and is well up for the night, with some new acquisitions to the playbox ready to go!! Looking forward to Local Collector/DJ Geoff Stubbs check out the link at the bottom of the post for some sample selections for you to check out. Phil Dunn is the man for our early arrivals, always a good mix of the classics and lesser played 45s!!
