  1. After another mind blowing night at Ashton Ukrainian Club last Saturday, we now look forward to our next date, in just over three weeks!! Saturday March 18th is the next date for your diary. Former Ukrainian Club Resident Chris Penn makes a return behind the decks from the "frozen north" I'm sure Chris will have some new additions to the playbox, please check back regularly on the soul-source event thread for a few snippets. Lord Ashton AKA Chris Churm, Phil Dunn John Hillel Mick Howard and local hero Stu Cheetham, complete another cracking line up!! We are constantly amazed, by the lengths people travel and how early they arrive, eager to sample the music on offer and savour the unique atmosphere!! As ever a mere £5 admission pay on the door gets you in for a slice of the action!! The night runs 7.30pm-00.30 and as ever, early arrival is the key, to avoid disappointment, as after 8pm at our last two events it was standing room only !!! We are both delighted and humbled in equal measures for the positive feedback we have received, we aim to please, so you won't be disappointed. See you there!!!
WOW!! Just when you thought Ashton Ukrainian Club couldn't get any better, it did!!! The little club that packs a big Punch!! Some really nice comments last night, that kinda sums the whole ethos of the event. "The right people, right venue and the right music" If we could bottle the atmosphere, it would be worth a fortune, in reality, it's priceless!! The venue officially starts at 7.30pm and by 7.45pm every table in the main room was taken!! Musically it was right up there and not a bad record played all night, with the dancefloor full to the last note!! Quality start as ever from Phil Dunn and a well crafted return set from Les Harrison. Alex Jones was up next and straight from the off Carol Anderson "taking my mind" set the tone, as we were treated to a musical feast of the rare and WOW not heard that for ages moments!! Mr Ginger Taylor up next and he didn't disappoint, digging deep into the collection and pulled out some pearls for the crowd, that we don't often get to hear him play. Check out the sample video below from his set(warts and all lol, talking tactics for the mighty reds and my fat finger on the lens lol) Phil Wainwright smashed it out of the park, with a great mix of seldom played oldies John Harris, Out A Sights "rest of my life" a few left fielders, all gratefully appreciated by the assembled masses!! Lord Ashton Chris Churm finished a top night off in fine style, as only he can. Once again it was a team effort and many thanks to the hard working bar staff with a little help with our team of regulars, collecting glasses and last but not least our regular crowd and new attendees from far and wide. You make it all worthwhile, many thanks. Our next date Saturday March 18th, see you there!! Ashton Ginger Video.mp4

Well we celebrated the anniversary in fine style, arrived just before 8pm the car park was rammed, we ended up a few minutes walk away, but well worth it. The place was packed, some nice crossover on the decks early doors from Kev McCue, mixed in with the classics. Simon Ingham followed and had the dancefloor bouncing with a great mix of tempos and styles, great set mate. Les Harrison was making a welcome return behind the decks , again mixing it up Rudy Love, Delegates of Soul, Cliff Nobles and many more. Next up the maestro Ted Massey playing a full array of Rare Soul, highlights of a great set including United Sounds, Joseph Webster,Ivories the quality tunes, just kept coming and the dancers loved it. We had to leave early unfortunately, what a great night. I'll leave it up to "modernistas" to review the modern room, great night. Looking forward to more of the same in march!!

WOW,WOW,WOW Ashton Ukrainian Club Anniversary exceeded all expectations. Nearly every table in the main room was taken just after the 7.30 pm start and yet again more new faces, sampling the unique atmosphere!! Great to see the old Wilton Niter Crowd for their first visit!! Well we reached and(maybe ssshh) exceeded club capacity, to the point where I was almost crowd surfing to reach the bar!! The music was off the chain, great opening set as ever from Phil Dunn closely followed by one of our resident guest DJs Steve Skopek, who didn't disappoint with a great set. Next up the eagerly anticipated return of Chris "Dab of Soul" Anderton with a sublime mix of classic niter sounds mixed in with some 70s biggies, the rare and just plain great soul records regardless of price/rarity all received with aplomb by the dance floor. Ted Massey followed and the usual top quality mix of styles Killer R+B, current niter sounds and a liberal sprinkling of classy crossover kept the dancefloor heaving. Chris Churm finished the night off, in fine style with some great feedback from people who were experiencing the night for the first time!! The ethos and direction of the club worked to perfection, blending the headline DJs and local collector DJs knocking it out of the park!! Our next event is Saturday February 18th when we welcome Ginger Taylor Phil Wainwright, Alex Jones and the return of Les Harrison. Keep your eyes on the event pages on here and soul-source for more details!! Lastly a HUGE thank you to the hard working bar staff, who, if you didn't know are all volunteers and kindly agreed to let us carry on till 1am, hopefully this will be a regular fixture!
