WOW,WOW,WOW Ashton Ukrainian delivers again big time. In the current economic climate, people voting with their feet yet again!! We aim to provide a top quality night out and last night was truly humbling to see more new attendees, we had a few of our regulars missing, sorry guys you missed a cracker!! The warm weather meant a few turned up a bit later, so a slow burn , kicked into maybe one of the best we've had and after Phil Dunn opening set, we had a non too shabby early set from Phil Dick rare as you dare, unreleased gems and seldom heard classics meant for a great spot. Derek Watmough followed and kept the assembled masses moving with some great requests programmed in, Intertains "I need your love" hit the spot!! Phil Threlfall up next completed a tale of "three Phil's" first up Appointments "I saw you there" well and truly lit the fuse for a monumental spot. Willie Tee "having so much fun" Purple Mundy and so many more. Tsop Manchester Baz Maleady followed, just when you thought it couldn't get any better? IT DID!!! An absolute master class in selections, presentation and reading the floor, take a bow sir and enjoy the attached video snippet!! Chris Churm finished the night with the usual quality mix, last record?? They were having non of it Cody Black "Mr Blue" finishing a "you had to be there" occasion!! Nice to catch up with Martyn Bradley, memories of the great Albrighton sessions and the fastest delivery driver in the North West Debbie Carty delivering the odd rare soul gem as well as Motor Parts!! Please keep checking back on here for details of our next night, saturday June 17th is the date for your diary!! May 23 Ashton Video.mp4

The weekend is here and Ashton Ukrainian Club is primed and ready to deliver another quality night of rare and underplayed soul music for your delectation. Saturday May 20th is the date!! We have a top drawer DJ line up!! As ever expect the unique "Atmosphere" that this event constantly delivers, where quality is the ethos of the night, regardless of price or rarity and like minded people show their appreciation on our smaller but perfectly formed dancefloor. The anticipation of another busy night, means early arrival is advisable, lots of on street parking close to the venue. We start as ever at 7pm-00.30 and still just £5 admission pay on the door(absolute bargain) Quick update Tsop Manchester will be bringing the residue of the CDs from the Karl Rhodes memorial night, if you missed out at the recent Culcheth event, here's your chance to pick a copy up, top quality tracks BTW and all going to very worthy cause!! Looking forward to Baz Maleady back behind the decks at the Ukrainian Club. One of my all time favourite Soul Singers Linda Jones, recorded so many great records that have seen turntable action over the years, this one seems to have grabbed the attention recently and rightly so!!

Just over a week to our next night at Ashton Ukrainian Club. Saturday May 20th is shaping up to be another cracker. As ever another quality line up, with some real pedigree on the Rare Soul Scene. Phil Dick will be well known to most for his "Detroit A Go Go" events and before that at various events in and around Bradford. Baz Maleady another quality DJ and non too shabby promotor of The Culcheth "spirit of Lowton events, also being a major player on the crossover/ modern circuit with The excellent "spirit of the Orwell" nights at Haydock, proving real poplular with folk with an open mind on quality soul music. The Saints Club in St Helens being the catalyst for "pushing the boundaries" soul music through the Lowton Civic Hall period to present day. Phil Threlfall known more recently for the "ground breaking" Grumpy Soul Nights. Phil has been a stalwart on the scene in the post Wigan period from Morecambe Pier, Stafford TOTW and beyond, expect the unexpected!! Bolton's Derek Watmough will be adding the usual classy selection from all eras, being a regular from the early days of OUR music!! Phil Dunn will be starting the night, again mixing the classics and a few " curve balls"!! Pinning the whole thing together Ashton Main Man Chris Churm probably the most unassuming DJ you will ever meet. His records speak for themselves!!! Please remember our now earlier start time running 7pm-00.30 and an interest rate busting £5 pay on the door!! Our regulars and new attendees never cease to amaze with the distances they travel for this quality event, many thanks!! Please check the thread and feel free to RSVP the event, on here for any updates !!
