Hi Andy I couldn't be there, seen some great reviews of the event!! Attached details of the New year event
Sensational night at Ashton Ukrainian Club!! July is traditionally a quiet period on the soul calendar, not a bit of it, another packed house!! Great to catch up with Wilxy,Dave Holt and Paul Baldwin, two quality guys from another iconic club Lowton Civic Hall, bit of a BVAN reunion last night, sorry never got to chat to Martin L. Phil Dunn, got us off to a great start, with a great across the board mix, followed by a really entertaining 90 mins of double decking, with "Team Ukrainian" regular Simon Ingham and Allan Coney hitting us with unissued acetates, current biggies and everything in between!! Karl Chalky White followed with a real classy set, with some 60s bangers and a few Lifeline memories, with one acetate that sounding very similar in arrangement to Billy Prophet "what can I do"(well to my ears anyway) Some great 70s/crossover finding favour on the dancefloor, which had Steve Plumb racing from the bar area and nodding his approval to see a full dance floor, it really is an open minded crowd at Ashton. Next up, cometh the hour, cometh the man Andy Dyson just WOW!! absolutely smashed it out of the park, breath taking selections, unknowns, classics, crossover winners and high praise indeed to draw comparisons with Lifeline, with a real "up for it crowd, take a bow sir!!! Lord Churm of Ashton, completed in fine style, another, in a long line of you had to be there nights!!
  3. I think so mate, lifeline meets BVAN meets The Ukrainian Club, perfect recipe!!

  7. Another busy weekend on the soul calendar on the horizon. Just two days to our July event at Ashton Ukrainian Club!! Lots of people looking forward to an all too infrequent return to the decks for two of the Original DJs of the Legendary and much missed Lifeline events, Andy Dyson and Karl Chalky White, some memorable niters and weekenders and then some. Joining them and making his Ukrainian Club Debut Allan Coney, definitely expect the unexpected lol!! Team Ukrainian regular Simon Ingham will be adding his unique blend of current big hitters whilst championing the records, you didn't know you wanted to dance to!! Chris Churm will be filling in the gaps(quality all the way) and not forgetting Anchor man Phil Dunn who'll be laying down the grooves, early doors for all you "eager beavers" Saturday July 15th is the date and the night runs 7pm-00.30, judging by the response so far, it's gonna be a busy one!! An inflation busting £5 admission pay on the door, gets you in !! Please check out the thread for a selection of the quality sounds, you can expect to hear and feel free to RSVP the event!!! Did I mention early arrival is advisable? (I'll just think it lol)

  15. Well our July event at Ashton Ukrainian seems to have captured the imagination, with people looking forward to re-visiting those spine tingling sessions at Lifeline Niters and more recently the innovative BVAN sessions, during the time when actually being in a club setting and hearing and dancing to these vinyl pearls was no more than a pipedream. This club has taken off, beyond our wildest dreams and has become a lot of peoples "must do" night out!! Saturday July 15th we're delighted to welcome Lifeline Residents Andy Dyson, Karl Chalky White as guest DJs Allan Coney will be making the long trip down the A1 to play his debut set(let's hope he's on his best behaviour lol) Stockport "taste maker and Ashton regular Simon Ingham, will be bringing the usual high quality mix to the night, along with Chris Churm and Phil Dunn . Saturday July 15th is the date for your diary, the night runs 7pm-00.30 and just £5 pay on the door. We anticipate a busy night, judging by the feedback, so please arrive early, as seating and dancefloor space will be at a premium!!! Please check out the thread for the event for a snap shot of what we're about. You just know it's gonna be good!!

  21. Yes deffo some memorable BVAN saturday nights on Radio King, when Pete's dulcet tones introduced the opening bars from Otis Clay's anthem "the only way was definitely up" Fast forward to 2023 and The Phoenix has risen from the ashes, sharing that BVAN ethos providing a quality saturday night for folk who like something a "little different" Couple that with a hefty slice of The much missed Lifeline niters and you have the perfect soulful recipe, no brainer really!!
  22. Don't forget this one Chalky, such a great record!!
