Classy Rhythm and Soul from the play box of Simon Ingham!!
-
Taste maker Simon Ingham, will be digging deep into the boxes, bring you the rare and seldom played in equal measure. A Detroit gem that's lived far too long in the shadows of it's more expensive to buy label release. The group had three releases on Valtone, file under rarely played dance floor dynamite!!
-
Luci Jones has been tearing up the dancefloors at places like "The Gathering" with this little underplayed gem, that has been kicking about on lists at not very much!! I've always rated this, hard hitting Chicago gem. Hear it "live and loud" on December 9th yesss please!!

Sooo many quality records from those Saturday sessions mate
-
So much more to come mate, coming to you live, Proper!!!

Next up our resident "taste maker" Simon Ingham and a record ready to have it's day in the sun, from a prolific artist, with so many of his recordings finding favour on the soul scene!!

Our end of year, pre-Christmas Special, another blinding line up for you. Roger Banks making a welcome return to the area, as he lived and DJ'd in the area late 80s, early 90s, memories of Hyde Botanical Club, Hyde and Droylsden all Nighters. Jumping Joan is another Ashton debutant DJ, bringing the heat, with a guaranteed high octane soul music for the dancefloor. Luci Jones has been turning a few heads of recent with Funky Edge/Hard hitting soul music, again aimed squarely at the dance floor! Team Ukrainian, "fixer" and non too shabby DJ Simon Ingham will be back behind the decks, with some classy rare soul and as always championing the cheaper and underplayed gems!! WOW !!!! What a night, this club, the DJs and most importantly "The Ashton Faithful" who attend every month, make it, well, just SPECIAL!! So many events on over the weekend and the place was packed to the rafters, just mind blowing! Steve Thomas Ashton.mp4 We aim to provide a quality monthly night out, for like minded souls, with a varied DJ selection, who bring something different to the table! Phil Dunn played the usual quality opener, to set the mood for the night! Case in point with our first guest Charles Simpson first time behind the decks and the boy done good, you smashed it mate, top drawer!! Many thanks for the positive comments on my contributions, it really means a lot!! I'll add my playlist later as a snap shot of a monumental night of "our music" Great to hear Captain Steve Thomas, digging deeper into an awesome selection of soul music for the dancefloor and the crowd lapped it up, take a bow sir!! Chris Anderton followed and Big Frank and the essences as a starter proved a clarion call for the dancers, as ever mixing the styles and tempos and what an inspired choice Barbara Lewis "hello stranger" definitely captured the mood!! Team Ukrainian main man Chris Churm finished an unbelievable night off in fine style, a definite "you had to be there kind of night. The world's finest soul super group The Dells "make sure" a fitting finale record, dripping in SOUL! What's it all about really. PLEASE NOTE our December end of year special, will be Saturday December 9th, not our usual third Saturday in the month, due to club bookings!! Another stellar line up awaits. How Did You Get Into Dancing to Norther Soul?
Micksmix replied to Paul-s's topic in All About the SOUL
I think like a lot watched the crowd at the casino and just threw myself into it, not really knowing what to do. Then practiced at home, trying to copy the moves. I think eventually you develop your own style. I still say to this day, I can recognize people by their movements on the floor from a distance, before you can actually see them close up, if that makes sense?
