  1. Great choice, actually my all time favourite Northern record, so superior to the likes of Frank Wilson and Jimmy Mack.
  2. Just out of curiosity can someone tell me the prices for the normal Paula issue and the rare miss-pressed copys which were never issued (wrong song on the A side)
  3. Eddie Parker " I'm Gone " Hurricane Katrina type stormer.
  4. Cheers my mate asked and i said 250 minimum and he thought i was joking.
  5. Can somebody tell me the value of Charles Johnson 'Never Had A Love So Good" on Alston please.
  6. 1. The Dealers-You Got It. 2. The Tomangoes-I Really Love You. 3. Court Davis-Try To Think what Your Doing. 4. Cecil Washington-I Dont Like To Lose. 5. The Charades-Key To My Happiness. 6. Herb Ward-Strange Change. 7. Donnie Elbert-Along Came Pride. 8. Judy Hughes-Fine,Fine,Fine. 9. Roni Hill-I Wouldn't Give You Up. 10. Rita And The Tiaras-Gone With The Wind.
  7. I bought a copy of The Sweet 'Broken Heart Attack' on Smash roughly 30 years ago for 15 quid, i sold it about a year later and have recently bought the record again for 15 quid and was surprised to find it was my old copy.
  8. Even Searlings average sounds are far better than any crap being discovered now, The Sweet ' Broken Heart Attack' (Chester Pipkin c/u) Judy Hughes 'Fine,Fine,Fine (Judy Street c/u) to name just two.
  9. I can't imagine Butch's current adulation is anywhere near the respect Richard Searling received the last two years of the Casino, Searling had a playlist to die for, some of his sounds still stand today as amongst the best records ever played, i.e. Cecil Washington, Court Davis, Moses Dillard and so many others, so to answer the question i don't think you could ever beat Richard Searlings legendary status.
  10. I always remember Dave Evison going absolutely mental to Archie Bell and The Drells ' There's Gonna Be A Showdown ' circa 79 at Wiga Casino ( friday oldies niter ) he was first class.
  11. Tony with all respect i understood the question first time, i merely stated he should be considered AHEAD of the likes of Luther Vandross, as for James Brown i can't stand him.
  12. I can't believe i've just read all those posts and still no mention of Bobby Womack, surely Mr Womack should be considered ahead of the likes of Luther Vandross.
  13. Why are some of the most expensive records actually among the worst records ever played on the scene, the following three records are in my opinion absolute garbage and worth in reality 20p each (tops) Frank Wilson - Do I Love You, The Andantes - Like A Nightmare and last of all the daddy of 3rd rate soul music George Lemons - Fascinating Girl.
  14. Don Ray - Born A Loser - RCA - 1.46 min.
  15. Thank you.
  16. Can someone let me know what i should be paying for a copy of Fine, Fine , Fine by Judy Hughes on Vault, thanks.
  17. I think i'll just buy a bootleg,cheers.
  18. Cheers mate, i remember when Searling was the only person to have a copy, than Kev Draper acquired one, i wasn't sure what happened next but as you say not exactly Cheating Kind type rare.
  19. Roughly how many copies are in the UK and what is it's current value, and is anybody selling one.
  20. The Dogs " Soul Step " And No to the 2nd question.
  21. I dont know if there has ever been a thread on here concerning covered up records that sound nothing like the artists they were covered up as, if not i would suggest a couple Cecil Washington aka Joe Matthews-nothing like Joe and General Assembley aka Don Varner again nothing like Don.
  22. Pat Brady covered it up as Lenny Curtis 'Someboby To Love" in fact you can actually hear him on refosoul on this site at Wigan Casino dedicating it to Guy Hennigan, some of his other cover ups were spot on as soundalikes Magnificent 7 covered up as The Chandlers, Pat Lewis covered up as Eula Cooper etc.
  23. Jack Montgomery " Do You Believe It " / " Dearly Beloved "
  24. Kev Draper uncovered The Group featuring Cecil Washington "I Dont Like To Lose" when he obtained a copy himself, Richard Searling felt he should have still played it as Joe Matthews to maintain its mystique, also concerning distinctive vocals Pat Brady covered up Bobby Womack 'Find Me Somebody" as Lenny Curtis and that fooled a lot of people.
  25. The Group featuring Cecil Washington - I Dont Like To Lose, quite simply the best record ever played and the finale is a fitting tribute to such a dynamic record.
