  2. Just been looking at the thread: Wigan Casino saturday nights etc. and saw there was nearly 13.000 views on it , but hang on did'nt the great club boast over a hundred thousand members? I can accept around 10% have passed on (RIP)but where are all the others who used to be in yer face at every event there, oldies or just a regular saturday night, and those who said they went or were going and brandished a members card when you or someone else started to doubt them, thing is once you went to station road you never forgot it and it certainly made you want to go back more and more. Because be honest how many of you wished you could go back there? quite a few or is it me just being a sad old git who has'nt moved on with his life. But surely they have a PC and have visited SOUL SOURCE even if they have not contributed which leads me to my original question...where are you all?
  3. I'll try to find out, like you say He was a great guy but not seen or heard of him for years, hope he's still around , thanks for the reply
  4. yes I remember Ivan, although I was'nt at Keighley that night, Am I right in saying lfcjunkie that he promoted the Halifax niters and dayers at the ymca complex in the town and also at least one niter at Royston in Barnsley at The Ace Ballroom? Had a mate from Bradford Alan Knowles who used to help him fetch and carry I'm sure it's the same guy.

  8. I would like to thank each and everyone of you for telling such brilliant stories about this topic(trouble at niters)because back in the day when people used to go on about trouble being caused,I was the one who always lept to defend the scence that I loved so much(and still do)you lot have proved me wrong......I didnt think there would be so many stories and tales to tell when I started this, but another thing you lot can tell me about is what's it like going to the grand arcade in Wigan?how weird is it when you first get there?do you get really sentimental and is the casino cafe a let down when you think what was on that site not so long ago? a lot of questions I know but the short of it is I daren't go myself,so please keep those stories comin......................many thanks Gigs.

  10. I remember I used to frequent Kev Roberts record shop in mansfield(early eighties)called vinylmania, was in in there most saturday afternoons, anyway this particular cold winter saturday afternoon I was parked in the liesure centre car park about a mile away so as to avoid getting another parking ticket. It was freezing so by the time I reached my car my hands were nearly numb,so fumbled about for my keys and hurriedley drove home, after a couple of miles my thoughts turned to the nighter I was going to and was very glad I managed to pick up those 3 records(can't remember what they were now)then I suddenley remembered in my haste to get in the car I had left the f%$^kers on the roof, turned back and sure enough at the entrance to the carpark peices of vinyl all over road with cars still running over them so Ijust looked round made sure no one was watching and pissed off home

  19. Have you ever been to an all-nighter and a fight or any trouble broken out? I have only ever had one experience, not directly involved myself but........about 77-78 I was at the K.G.B. club in Sheffield and 3-4 skinheads came in,boots, braces and all. All was well until around 4.30a.m. when the dancefloor seemed to be thinning out a bit,and two of these guys were dancing around mockingly with traffic cones on their heads, nothing was said or done until a soulie was in the middle of launching himself into a spin and dropping straight down into the splits, where one of these traffic cone wearing idiots ran over and kicked him in the face, result was immeadiatley being surrounded by around 20-30 angry soul fans, who escorted them bodily out of the club. It certainly livend up the rest of the niter, talk about cameraderie it was great to see everyone watching out for everyone else.............................anyone else got a story ? would love to hear it.
