Sometimes it's no bad thing to be in "our little island". For example, it helped protect us in the 1940's! I've had a real good laugh at the antics on this thread, but was thinking it was quite some time since "soilJihad" last called someone a Nazi or the like. I even wondered if he was losing his touch, but after the above phrase, I see I needn't have worried.

I've just read through this thread with mild interest and listened to the tracks. I have enjoyed several, Promised Land in particular, but those with a one minute computer generated intro do little for me. Threads about different sub-genres are obviously meat and drink on this forum, but seldom are the exponents of a given genre as condescending and rude as those on this thread, viz: Not the most intelligent post I've ever read! I respect your taste in music, as you should respect that of others. However your area of taste/knowledge is no more or less legitimate than anyone else's. Most of us have our favourite musical areas but most of us content ourselves with that rather than try to "educate" and impose our taste on others! 1. It's rather arrogant of you, IMHO, to suggest anyone is stupid because they have different areas of knowledge to you! 2. That should be "who's", rather than "whose". 3. Are you some grotesque second-coming of Ian Levine?

Uncanny! Almost telepathetic? We mere mortals can only look on in awe. I liken you two to no less than Oscar Wilde and James Whistler, although you are slightly more camp and I may have imbibed one too many Cinzanos!

I need a bit of help here folks. I don't know who Russel Watson is, and therefore I am unsure how much indignation to show.

The original post from which the bold area above is taken.. is it supposed to be a review of the DVDs? If so, only a small proportion it is relevant IMHO. The rest seems to be a potted biography of Levine and the first bold para above is a bit of socio-psycho babble that does a disservice to the 70s scene! In what way would that influence "people new to the scene" to buy the DVDs?
