Jamie, what's the date on your US demo? I notice Miff's copy predates the UK one. The later version is not just inferior in terms of vocals....the instrumentation is "smoother", sounds synthesised...loses all it's urgency Sounds like a decent wedding do mate .....you stopped short of Skullsnaps and Black Nasty then? Those Funny Northern Soul Tracks
Pete, someone played a white demo of the original version at the party after the Autumn Skeggy weekender and although it had been a heavy couple of days, I reckon that was a US copy. Dave

On The Scene
Evening Jamie & Col Looks like it's gone well off topic already, so I'll just say Jamie there may be more on the scene in your area with mod/scooterist roots than you realise....there were at least half a dozen that I knew at your brilliant night in April. Sorry you couldn't make Sunday mate.....but you probably wouldn't have liked it Dave

Cds/mp3s Vs Records
I did read your post and I know what the thread is about. I take it the answer to my question is "yes". I'm just glad I'm not so wooden that I need the site to tidy my posts up.

Cds/mp3s Vs Records
I noticed your link to a custom CD site and it left me a bit puzzled. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't you who was taking the piss on another thread out of, amongst other things, a DJ who played CDs? Can't quite tally the two things up

Call em what you like cocker, they are indeed yours and therefore you can take them home with you I fear we are going round in circles as well. And I also fear your intransigence will accompany you much further than a trip to the dishwasher (hope by dishwasher you didn't mean your other half) Dave

No, the point was that you are applying your own parameters to others. The above post reinforces that....."When I first got....". Well at that time the music was more contemporaneous than it is now, less out of the ordinary for young people. I "got that from" what I see and hear when I'm out, and some posts I read on this board. Your last phrase shows your intransigence and demonstrates why you will not understand what some of us on this thread are trying to say. Regards, Dave

You are applying your own parameters again. Newcomers may not know who Keb is. Why should they? Does that matter? You say "we all sat out a few nights....". Past tense! That was when everyone was of a similar (young) age. It's not the same any more. The teenagers and twenty somethings are coming into a scene dominated by 35-45 yo's, many of whom have no care for the scene beyond the next 12 months. Some of them are long term f*cked in the head from what goes with the scene and some are positively hostile to anyone 30 and below....there have been posts on this site that demonstrate that. It takes determination and conficence to persevere with our scene in those circumstances, and newcomers are not going to "practice in their own living rooms" if they are not given encouragement....they will find another scene.

The dinosaur comment was not just about age, but also attitude. I go to some soul nights in the midlands........ :graynone: Glad you enjoyed the typo, BTW
