  1. I thought Mark was replying to Alison
  2. Nominally, but it was a pale pink in reality I used to like crunching the bits of backbone but when you think about it they weren't very big were they? Hmmmm..... small salmon or large eel?
  3. Ah! I see. My gran was a bit posh....we used to get tinned salmon instead of the boiled ham
  4. Do You mean like "Wigans Ovation's" avatar? And what's a plate salad?
  5. Reckon the fashions in the 70s were a bit suspect generally, not just soulies On the rare occassions we were home in time for Sunday tea at Grans, we tended to wear hooped shirts
  6. You forgot Tony Galla
  7. Fair point if you accept that the left are more progressive , but I think it was meant as a comment on lack of tolerance and a propensity to "influence" what others do/listen to Is there room for me in that shelter?
  8. Heard an interesting phrase recently used to describe these "purists" who like to knock...... "Right-Wing Soulies"
  9. Sure you don't mean the one Roger played?
  10. When it says "All Our Yesterdays" reverend sis, it doesn't mean literally yesterday
  11. Never!!
  12. Now that is a very good point Although we're slipping into a subject thats filled many pages on here before, I have to say that I've generally seen a bigger proportion of new, and younger, faces at smart venues promoted/played by the younger DJs. I'm not sure that new records are sole answer to getting these people interested..... I think variety is the more important factor! As you said before, there are so many underplayed/forgotten records and they can equally well provide that variety. What is a turnoff to many is the playing of moderate records just because they bring back memories of 1973 to some
  13. Now you ARE being mischievous An exception....possibly - but I can't think of many of any age who would play a complete set of unknowns..... and what constitutes an unknown anyway? A lot turn out to have been played in the past, however infrequently, and are remembered by somebody.... that's come up on here enough times!! Names? you've supplied one and I can also remember hearing Little Richard play one or two a while back that were new to me personally but its no good asking if I can remember now the name of a record I heard at 2.00am one Sunday morning in July
  14. Agree wholeheartedly about underplayed oldies. As to the sweeping statement about the "newies" side of things, which I suspect was made with tongue firmly in cheek , I've heard records played by the younger element, as recently as this weekend, that would be completely new plays on this scene.
  15. I can only comment on the ones I have heard.....and they ain't too inclined towards the, erm, "classics"
  16. Yes, but isn't fair to say that the younger DJs wouldn't be at a venue that attracted just the entrenched "top 500" crowd?
  17. True, just as being over 45 and able to blather into the mic about Wigan shouldn't give anyone that right either..... but sometimes you wonder don't you?
  18. There'll be no more trouble until tomorrow.....he has his nap about now
  19. You're only saying that because you're not on the young guns team Steve!
  20. Nicely put young sir BTW, I'll tell you over a pint one night of DJ who still plays Eye Of The Tiger at home Unless I receive a suitable bribe not to in the meantime
  21. Just because it's synonimous with youth club memories don't make it a good record Pete
  22. Aha Col.....you've been outed, you old stomper you! (I hate it BTW, but if someone wants to pay good money for it.... fair dos )
  23. Are those the right pictures.....looks like the Bay City Rollers?
