  1. Thanks for the info, very helpful. If I'd had to guess, I would have got it wrong way round and thought the sharper/cleaner label was the original rather than the boot. An updated Manship bootleg guide, including those done in recent years and for non-Northern markets, would surely sell well. Alan
  2. Hi, I'd be really grateful for information on how you can distinguish between an original pressing and the counterfeit/reissue. Thanks in advance. Alan
  3. I've been looking for this for a few years. Only seen occasional Mainstream copies which went for around £150. Wish I'd bid £160! All these Jaber copies coming up now, prompted by someone paying over $1,100 for one a few weeks back! Alan

    Wanted

What sort of price does this go for? thanks Alan
  5. I bought a few, probably the best (now) were Shelley Fisher - Girl I Love you (Dalya) and Dickie Wonder - Nobody Knows (Golden Triangle), but I didn't really appreciate them until years later! The packs had a lot of the less rare Ric Tic and Golden World sides, plus quite a lot of 70s stuff which was too modern/ disco for my tastes at the time. Gave up buying them as was getting doublers - things like Voices of East Harlem- Cashing in, Jesse Fisher - You're not loving a beginner etc! Often wish now I had bought more. Alan
  6. Is this track only available on the "He'll Be Back" album or did it ever come out anywhere on a 45? Thanks in advance. Alan
  7. The Players - Why did I lie Leon Haywood - Consider the source Gladys - Willow weep for me ..and if we can stray into hits The Temptations - The girl's alright with me Otis Leavill - I love you / Love uprising / There's nothing better Alan
  8. Johnny Starr it is! Thanks Alan
  9. Hi, could anyone please help me identify male vocal group track with lyrics "give me all your love" and "don't hold back" repeated often, over a backing track that is very similar to Martha & Vandellas' Heatwave or Quicksand. Thanks in advance. Alan
  10. They regularly sell on ebay as Fredbohn. I got record from them last week without problem. Hopefully they kept the soul stuff on the higher floors. Alan
  11. I've e-mailed you Alan
  12. [is the ET WHITE label called great potential or is that a description of this brill tune] Both! Alan
  13. On Michael Parkinson's Radio 2 show last Sunday he played a new release that used the Mel Torme riff but had different ltrics. I suspect this is the record you heard. I looked at the playlist just now and I think it was Peter Grant - Traditional. Not as good as Mel Torme (or even worse, depending on your point of view) and nothing to do with soul/R&B. Alan
  14. They have a list of the top eBay sales over the last month, which included the Billy Harner - What About the Music instrumental. They then added an idiotic comment that the flip, Please Spare Me This Time, was an in-demand Northern side. It's not worth buying nowadays. I only read it in Borders when I've time to kill and have already read B&S and Black Echoes.. Alan
  15. Never on an EP, I think just a 45 with Tighten Up on flip. Last ones I have seen on eBay went for about £100-£125. Alan
  16. I think Deep Dark Secret and Indian Giver are good examples of ex-cheapies that shot up in price over a fairly short period. Alan
  17. I had similar experience around a year ago. Meant to put on late bid of $32.00 for 5 DuTones - Nobody But My Baby but instead of a full stop in middle I entered a comma which eBay ignored - resulting in maximum bid of $3200.00. On the confirm screen I think it showed it as typed $32,00 so mistake wasn't obvious till maximum bid shown. Too near end of auction to withdraw the bid, so spent an uncomfortable few seconds waiting to see if anyone pushed price up to stupid level with a snipe. Had to pay around $36 for my winning bid. I'm always very careful with the punctuation now. Alan
  18. Urban Outfitters sell album frames for £9.99. In mine I've got the great sleeve from The Impressions Big 16 Volume 2, recently reactivated for the Definitive Vol 2 CD. Alan
  19. Was the Brenda Holloway EP with Favour for a Girl released with 2 different pictures? I thought the picture was with her sitting, but on eBay in the last year I saw a picture cover with her standing and the picture taking up only part of the cover. Any advice? thanks Alan
  20. Creations - Oh Baby / Plenty of Love (Globe) Alan
  21. I got a copy on eBay last year for just over £30 (one of those listed on Popsike) and there wasn't much competition for it. I wouldn't pay more than £60. Although it's a great record I'd be surprised if big demand for it took off. Alan
  22. Secure properly the PA rig that fell on Curtis Mayfield. Alan
  23. There was even a 2nd response today. I'd post it but I was reading someone else's copy. About time now the original answer was posted. Alan
  24. Great stuff, PJ Proby excepted Alan
