  1. As a matter of interest it is a common misconception that the black bar on a Sue label denotes a demo . This is not the case , this where Sue had preprinted the labels with the words Sue records , however when they lost the deal with american Sue and they were taking releases from other labels they used up the preprinted ones but blanked out the bit that said Sue records.
  2. KATHY AND THE CALLENDERS - PLEASE DON'T GO kathy and the calendars - please don't go -
  3. As most people have said , the attraction of collecting British goes back to the early days . In the mid sixties listening to records by the Four Top's , Temptations , Willie T (walking up a one way street) , Tony Clark (The Entertainer),Capitols ( Cool Jerk) etc. was to be into a type of music most people weren't aware of . The records often had to be ordered and there was great excitement when you got your hands on something like Darrel Banks on Stateside . These records in there day were just as exotic as any US record . I still prefer collecting British although I have a fairly good US collection as well . I can only assume it's an age thing .
  4. Pages , Heartaches and Pain
  5. The other day I played Honey and the Bees - Why do you want to hurt the one who loves you . Afterwards as I was cleaning it a big chunk of the record broke off . Luckily I was able to replace it quickly , can only say it's a good job it wasn't Dynamite Exploded

  12. Can anyone help with the title of a film I saw on TV a few years ago ? The film is set in London in the late seventies/early eighties and involves a bunch of soul boys and a murder , I think , as well as a lot of Jazz Funk. Hope someone can help.
  13. Has to be Billy Stewart for me . To this day when i play it I am taken straight back to a small club in Reading where my obsession with soul music started

  17. First soul record that got me hooked was Sock it to em JB . Not Northern but back in 1966 it was just soul music . Hearing it in a small club in Reading it was the tune that got me hooked .
  18. Although I have been into soul music since 1966 . I have always been interested in music of all kinds . Rock in the early 70'ts . Disco merging into Jazz Funk in the mid to late 70'ts and back to soul again . However during all of this time I have played the guitar and just love to make a noise playing along to Green Day , Led Zeppelin , ACDC , Santana , Cream , I could go on but you get the gist .
