Dave...you never cease to amaze me. Your taste is impeccable, probably because it coincides with mine. I never knew you were a Pet Sounds fan. This is one of the most stunning pieces of music ever made, surpassed only perhaps by another track from that album, "God Only Knows".
Old Orleans restaurant in the UCI complex on Cardiff Bay. Quite often eat there before/after going to the flicks. They're always playing soul of some description. Recent notable plays include Rufus Lumley - I'm Standing and, rather gobsmackingly, a few weeks ago Mel & Tim - Forever and a Day. Asked the duty manager where their music comes from and he said it's all sent via hard drive from head office. Where the hell did they get Mel & Tim from?
Couldn't agree more. How in the name of sanity were so many people sucked in by the Four Vandals con? Anyone with half an ear for a tune could tell that was cut in a modern studio.
Right on with this mate. It's a strange "soul" scene that wants to push brilliant 70s tracks into separate rooms and search backwards to the 50s for more sounds to play to the extent that a lot of what is played that has little or nothing to do with soul, or even Northern come to that.
Searched on Craig Moerer's site........out of stock. Not listed on JMs but the LP was, though out of stock.
I have the LP (some nice tracks, couple of crossover types, nice slow ones) but would like the 45 too. Current prices anyone?
You sure on that Taff? I've been told by several people categorically that it's LP only.
By the way, was absolutely gobsmacked to hear this in the Old Orleans restaurant on Cardiff Bay a few weeks ago...........nearly choked on my Jambalaya!
Yes they did become Tavares. Sorry, I haven't got a copy either for sale or, very sadly, for my own amusement..........a truly wonderful, classy soul record which epitomises everything good about the music.......sorry. I've just cum.
£80 seems a bit on the low side Billy. Picked up a demo about 18 months ago for £100. Have seen it as much as £150 (though that is a bit pricey). Walter Jackson - class tune. Not as funky as Suddenly which I've always has potential for mass appeal.
I was having dinner at Old Orleans in the UCI complex on Cardiff Bay 3 weeks ago and Rufus Lumley came on. The week after that I was in the same restaurant and Mel & Tim "Forever and a Day" came on......even more bizarre.
