  3. Thanks dudes. Advice much appreciated.
  4. Hi All. What's the score on this 45 and was it booted? Thanks.
  5. Ah ha. That explains everything.................... When does Sadie start tearing up deckchairs and lamping rockers??
  6. Ahhh, I see. Now it all makes so much sense.........
  7. What the feck?
  8. Cheers. Appreciated.
  9. Indicative current price please for an issue - ta!
  10. Only rode in them - Tina F was the one with a dad in the motor trade and a bundle of Ford keys. Best she got were Mk II Cortinas - worst we had was a Vauxhall Victor which a couple of her jazz-funk mates liberated from the Octagon multi-storey in High Wycombe. Flipping thing packed up just west of Reading. We rolled up outside a pub in the village of Theale which the locals helpfully assisted us with a push into the car park. We had a couple in the pub, made our excuses that we were waiing for her old man to come out, laid low and then went on the hunt for a MkII. Sweet.
  11. Blimey Russ! I'll stick with me album version in that case. I prefer the other suggestions for sure. LOL
  12. Ah. Just noticed - 2 more episodes on the same theme and it says 'available soon on BBC iPlayer'.
  13. This is it - https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b010dp0z - but, seems it cannot be repeated (must be some way surely?)
  14. Thanks mate.
  15. Probably been asked before. Got the Stax album but what does the 45 go for?
  16. The US release was on Bronco - '67 or '68 I believe and I believe prompted the UK President release. Is this 1974 album version different from the 60s releases?
  17. I was always told this but personally prefer the one with the girlies.
  18. I suppose there are all manner of reasons for people like me for instance not getting out - not least habit (I think going becomes a habit too). Stopped going regularand travelling when Dave Flynn and Greg stopped doing Capitol Soul Club - not because of them stopping (the new guys at the Dome were very fine indeed - Mick H etc and I coulda/woulda/shoulda supported them) but a number of shitty things happened in my life around that time. Also, I was by then busy with a new venture which diverted attention and very often took up weekends. Been to a few smaller events since, but not travelled far at all. I would also add that music policies can be off-putting for me. I personally don't like much of the r&b stuff (mainly the earlier tunes) - stuff like Dean Barlow, Helen Troy, Charles Sheffield etc which just seemed to get hammered all the time, especially at smaller venues along the M4/M5 and the over-reliance on guaranteed 'floorfillers'/'crowdpleasers' at those venues - Ruby Andrews etc. I know local promoters, local DJs etc have to cater for many tastes and I don't necessarliy criticise them for it, just my own choice.
  19. Off centre, out of tune, overrated................yuk.
  20. thought it sounded a bit flat...................
  21. Might as well be Imelda Marcos!! (Sorry Nev - I did take your point earlier but couldn't resist)......
  22. Does it matter? Horrible record whatever format IMO.
  23. I know it all comes down to taste, opinion etc etc but I was saying to my girlfriend when we were watching JH's Hootenanay how nauseous I find this bloke's voice. I don't think he's anything special - I find his voice very unappealing and that Gnarls Barkley thing ('Crazy'?), to me at least was an irritating pain in the backside not to mention the song itself. Just my humble opinion.
  24. Saw the great man at St Davids Hall, Cardiff 15 years ago and he was gracious enough to meet and greet about 20 of us adoring fans in his dressing room after the show and sign copies of his book. What a thrill and an honour to have chatted with and shaken the hand of the man Bob Dylan famously described as "America's greatest living poet". Awesome, absolutely awesome.
  25. Absolutely. Early-mid 80s I recall this being played and if I recall correctly was featured on one of Ady's Kent compilation LP.
