It was Pete Wid was it? I know it was definitely someone from South East because I remember Mark Bicknell and Ian Stewart knocking these out early 80s. Great compilation and the version of the Professionals is the proper one off the 45 not the usual odd mix found on CDs. I still have this, complete with that cheesey cover targeted at the scooterists! Great stuff indeed. Good luck with the article.
Thanks mate. I now have a lovely new grandson. He should have been here 2 weeks ago, but decided to make us wait. We're up for coming down to the next Ghetto though.
Very disappointed we had to miss this. Hotel was booked etc etc, but family comes first. Great sets from the Shaw sisters and sounds like a brilliant night all round. Looking forward to getting down to the next one folks.

Sorry folks, but whilst there are some pleasant and left-field tunes, there is some absolute pants in there. What is that ridiculous 'Colin Safalou' crap about 30 minutes in??!!! He must surely be extracting the urine and testing folk to see who picks up on the joke. It is shockingly poor on all levels and sounds like a Pop Idol reject pulled off the street to sing something composed by one of Harry Hill's script writers. But then he always prefaces these things with 'you either love it or hate it'. Come on.
I wondered if the answer might be along those lines! Thanks for the tip that it is one that floats around very occasionally. Miss those nights. Great times and great sounds.
This may have been asked before, but occasionally bugs me when it pops into my head. But at the height of the Capitol Soul Club at the Dome, Dave Flynn used to spin a cover up which was a right down and dirty slab of rough 60s, Hammond driven funk with a Northern feel to it. It was covered as Fran Oliver "Searching For My Man". Anyone know what it was?
Apologies if I am a bit out of touch with things, but I think I'm correct in saying that about 10 years ago, there were 2 versions of the Jesse James 'Love Is Alright' being played out - the one Butch had (brilliant ) and the one Kenny Burrell was playing (same backing - crap vocal ). Which is this? Also, about 2000/2001, the Butch one came out on Soul City - was that legit or a boot?
