  1. These Memories by Almeta Latimore - gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Oh, and anything from the wonderful soulful voice of Norman General Johnson.
  2. The Breaks in Johnny Sales Can't Get Enough and Carla Thomas Never Stop Loving You always seem to get the room clapping.
  3. Yep, me too. We both need help!
  4. Truly, One man's meat is another man's poison. I really like some of the stuff mentioned on this thread. Have to agree with "The Larue" though. - Big in Wigan in 74 - I hated it then and I hate it now. Fotunately it hardly ever gets played anywhere. Do I love you and The Snake are awful And I never really understood the attraction of The Right Track - gets me off the dancefloor straight away.
  5. Cheers Isaac, I remember now, yes it was Warwick. Was it Fred Dinham who used to take the orders? Great times...... Dave R
  6. Around 1973/74 there was a Soul Night at The Royal Hotel in Walsall (30p admission if I remember correctly) There was a guy who took orders from his car outside for Corduroy Bags made to order. He had a mate who was a tailor I think. You could have any size waistband and as many pockets and buttons as you wanted and a choice of about 5 different colours. He usually had them ready for you the following Sunday - for the princely sum of a fiver! There were some horrendous creations but we all thought we looked great.
  7. Apparently he's also playing four nights at The Jazz Cafe in London. Pity he's not doing more shows around the country.
  8. What very sad news. A fabulous singer, one of my all-time favourite voices. When I was a young lad just taking an interest in Soul music, the Chairmen of the Board singles on Invictus were some of the first records I bought. I still love those records and that voice today.
  9. I first heard this wonderful piece of music in the youth club in 1974, and I have loved it ever since. If I was pushed, I would have to say it's my all-time favourite.
  10. Yes, I stood and watched Max dance that night - brilliant stuff. Two nights later at The Torch Reunion I was standing at the top of the stairs waiting for Max to come up (never pass on the stairs). "Come on, Max" I shouted down, "I know you can do it, I saw you dance the other night!" A big grin spread across his face and he almost ran up the stairs. Top Bloke RIP Max
  11. 51 and still shufflin'
