Martial Arts & Northern Soul In The 70s
I've seen plenty of reference to martial artists influencing northern soul dancing in the 70s. Just wondering if there were any girl dancers that were also martial artists at the time and if so how did their style differ? thanks

Dancing Contests - Who Needs Em?
Dance competitions are great - especially when there's cash involved. I believe some people can win up to twenty of your fine English pounds for risking life & limb....1st dance competition I saw was in Cleethorpes 10 years ago & I was gobsmacked. My only complaint is the records should be faster

Favourite Funky Soul Songs
Could someone please recommend a site other than funk45.com or any radio shows so I can swot up a bit? I LOVE Jimmy Castor - Troglodyte & the drums on Leroy's In The Army Now. Are The Meters too obvious to mention? x

Uk's Top Northern Dancers Today
what about Karl Rhodes! Think the surname is Rhodes. Lovely, gentle chap, his footwork breaks my brain, so fast. & the young lad in the 'Long After Tonight' film, with the big flares on, great timing & the not well known but truly awe inspiring Debbie from Clonmel. Every time that girl is dancing I have to sit down, she's so graceful (& has the dirtiest sense of humour) & yep, Paul Mulholland dances like Muhammed Ali anyone coming over for the Sleepless anniversary on Saturday is in for a treat, Steve Cato, Debbie, Liam Quinn all in one room going for it bigtime, cant wait edited to add J.C. from Barcelona! How come noone's mentioned him yet? For shame.

Soul Night, Allnighter, Alldayer
Nighters Nighters Nighters - every time, travelling to & from is so much fun, starting drinking too early, forgetting to eat, stumbling into a venue in some half forgotten town, saying hi to familiar faces, dumping the bag under a table somewhere, only to spend an hour looking for it later, getting out on the floor for the first time, talking crap at the bar, making new acquaintances....sometime after 3am the hours take twice as long to pass & are filled with more happiness than I've ever experienced on concrete, then suddenly it's 6am & the last hour goes by in a flash & it's time to start peeling my friends off the ceiling to try figure out how to get home without getting in trouble at the air or sea port, waiting, waiting, waiting to get to the next bar for a few stiff drinks Is it time for Prestatyn yet?
