  1. Gale Garnet - I'll Cry Alone. Fantastic little record
  2. Another couple have just come to mind. Steinways - My Hearts not In It Anymore Little Anthony & The Imperials - It's Not The Same
  3. Some records that really get me Little Esther Phillips - While It Lasted Masqueraders - How Ivories - Please Stay Mammie Lee - I Can Feel Him Slipping Away Doug Banks - Baby Since You Went Away H B Barnum - It Hurts Too Much To cry Marvin Gaye - When I Had Your Love Jean brooks - Tomorrow never came Bobby Bland - Getting Used To The Blues Jack Montgomery - Don't Turn Your Back On Me Now to go & dry my eyes & stay away from any sharp objects!!
  4. I don't generally like to hear instrumental versions of a good vocal record - one that really springs to mind is the instrumental version of Mickey Lee Lane - He Sha Lo Ney. I do like good instrumentals in their own right though & 2 of my favourites are- Green Onions - Booker T & The MGs - been a favourite of mine for about 25 years & still gives me a tingle when I hear it Detroit City Limits - 98 cents plus tax - pure, seemingly effortless, quality
  5. No hesitation on my fave......Tony Galla "In Love". The lyrics, for me, really sum up how it feels to be in love. "I don't know where I'm going, don't know what I'm gonna do............etc. Great record to dance to to top it off. I just hope once I turn up at this desert island I can find a turntable!!!!
  6. I love Hammond stuff I would try The TKO's - The Charge some good organ work in there but the "B" side is called "can you dig it" & sounds like it could of been the Small Faces themselves - "Grow Your Own" style! Detroit City Limits - 98 cents plus tax on Okeh - great deep organ sound Drippers - Honey Bunch - on moon shot Hank Blackman - Itchy Koo - Like Oo Ma Liddi by JJ Jackson but with different words & great Hammond! James Brown - Who's afraid of the Virginia Woolf (on Smash)& Choo Choo (which is B side of Prisoner of love on King records) are 2 istrumental tracks featuring James brown on organ Junior Walker - Brainwasher - great organ & sax stuff on here Brian Auger, Julie Driscoll & The Trinity are worth checking out for some great Hammond stuff Hope this helps
  7. Willie Tee - Walking Up A One Way Street.....just plods along at walking pace & a more emotionless voice would be difficult to find! Great record if I need to get to sleep though. 1 word summary Boring!
