  1. Due to today’s government announcement we will unfortunately have to cancel this event, sorry folks but it’s completely out of our hands. We’ll wait and see how the next few weeks pan out before making any decisions on future dates, take care everyone and hopefully we’ll see you all soon
  2. Bob Hinsley will be joining us on the decks also on June 26th, shaping up to be a top night
  3. DJs confirmed so far: Simon Ingham Glyn Hanford Derek Smith Graham Watkinson Tony Brookes Hopefully everything will pan out ok and we can look forward to seeing everyone on Saturday 26th June
  4. Saturday 26th June and BURSCOUGH BRITISH LEGION would like to welcome everyone back after a tough year, this is our first event for 16 months and it just happens to fall on what will be our 15th anniversary! How good is that, eh? As a special WELCOME BACK pressie we will not be charging an entrance fee for this event, all our guest DJs have agreed to come along and spin a few tunes for nowt which is extremely generous of them—many thanks people. So, if you fancy popping along for just an hour or maybe a bit longer then feel free to stay as long as you like, everyone is welcome and the music will be the same quality as it has always been at the Legion. The event runs from 8pm till 1am, hope you can make it along. It’ll be great to see you all again after such a difficult time DJs to be confirmed, I will post a full list when we have heard back from everyone
  5. We’re not looking for another venue at the moment to be honest.
  6. Really sorry but Orrell St James club will not be reopening when the current lockdown ends. The owners of the club are permanently closing 20 clubs locally and St James is unfortunately one of them. On behalf of myself, Lisa, Blunny, Tony & Ann we would like to express our thanks to everyone who has supported the venue over the years and those DJs who spun the sounds for us, much appreciated. No doubt there will be many other casualties of the present situation, let’s hope the venues that survive will attract enough support to see them through the tough times ahead. Take care everyone and thanks once again for all the support, we’ll see you through the window

  11. We have been told that the Magnet Bar in Liverpool which is the home of the Sink Soul Club has been sold and will cease to be a music venue after Sunday 18th February. The last ever event at the Sink club will be on Sunday 18th February, we would like to thank everyone who has attended the Sink over the years and have made it one of the best Sunday afternoon venues in the North West. Another historic club gone, the Magnet was due to celebrate its 60th anniversary this year so this closure is a double blow. We will be carrying on with the spirit of the Sink when we find a suitable venue--we have received a number of offers and will let everyone know when details are finalised. Thanks.

  15. Thanks for all the advice, sturgeon fishing eh--that sounds interesting! Really looking forward to our trip, I'm sure we'll find lots to occupy our time in this wonderful part of the world. Thanks once again for taking the time to reply, much appreciated.
  16. Nowt? Oh well, we'll just have to make do with the maple syrup and grizzly bears......
  17. Hi there. We're planning a trip to Vancouver and Victoria this Summer, just wondered if anyone knows any good venues, clubs, record stores, bars etc in the area? We've got a lot planned already including a tour of the Rockies but we've got some free time in both Vancouver and Victoria so if anyone has any suggestions we would be most grateful. Thanks in anticipation...Tony.
  18. I have been asked by Stan Evans to post the following information: The Sink Soul Club will once again open its doors in the Summer of 2015. The club, now known as the Magnet, has been taken over by new owners who have undertaken a tasteful refurbishment of the premises and who wish to start up the legendary soul events once again at the club. The refurbishment has included the installation of a state of the art sound system in the venue and all works have been in keeping with the historic character of the club. Three dates have been booked, with more to follow... Sunday 17th May---Sunday Soul Session running from 3pm---9pm. Sunday 19th July---Sunday Soul Session running from 3pm---9pm. Sunday 30th August---Mini Nighter running from 8pm---4am. DJs for the two Sunday Soul Sessions will be Stan Evans, Pete Everett, Dennis Haw and Tony Brookes. For the mini nighter there will be additional guest DJs, to be arranged. More information will be posted as soon as it is available on here and in the events section, there will also be information and invitations posted on Facebook. The Sink is one of the last remaining original soul clubs in the North of England, this is an exciting opportunity to be a part of what will be a fantastic revival in this iconic basement club!
  19. Two top sets mate and thanks for making the journey over to Burscough Legion to spin your sounds. I will post my playlist up later when I've got a bit more time.
