I don’t think anyone’s mentioned the sad passing of Hedley Lawson last week, a well known figure at soul venues around the country. Hedley was a real character, the tales of his exploits were legendary and he will be missed by so many people. He raised many thousands of pounds for charities over the years and wrote two books including an autobiography. He was also well known for being the older brother of Pete Lawson who is also sadly no longer with us. Hedleys funeral will be held on Friday 19th November at Ormskirk Parish Church at 11am and afterwards at Ormskirk Cricket Club. RIP Hedley, a life lived to the full.

Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it. We thought the music was top notch and a good crowd in attendance. Thanks to all the DJs for doing the night for free, much appreciated. Burscough British Legion Lord Street Burscough Lancashire L40 4BZ The Burscough British Legion Soul Night takes place on Saturday 27th November 2021, 8pm till 1am, entry is £5 on the door. If you like to hear something a bit different Burscough Legion is the venue for you, three or four different guest DJs each month playing original vinyl only. We have decided to run the Burscough Legion Soul Nights every two months instead of monthly from now on for the rest of 2021 and into 2022 due to the already congested calendar of soul events. We are now in our 15th year at Burscough Legion, not bad for a little club out in the sticks playing different music! DJs for November are to be arranged, we will post details up as soon as we’ve arranged everything. Hope you can make it!

The Burscough Legion Soul Nights return on Saturday 25th September with a free entry event to welcome everyone back after such a long absence! Hopefully the planned lifting of restrictions will go ahead as planned and we can go ahead with this event, it’s been a too long hadn’t it? A night of quality and underplayed soul from across the decades, if you like to hear something a bit different this is the place to be.
