Just a couple of weeks to go now till the first Burscough Legion Soul Night of 2022, into the New Year with a great line up of DJs……. You won’t hear such a diverse mix of music anywhere in the North West, we always book three or four different DJs with different styles each month so you’re guaranteed to hear something new each time the Legion is on. We’ve had a few enquiries regarding Covid Passports. As our venue doesn’t hold over 500 people or finish after 1am we do not have to ask people to show evidence of any vaccinations. So come along as usual, there will be NO checks on anyone.

Hi everyone, just a quick word about the badges. We’ve only got a limited number available and we think it’s only fair to do it on a first come first served basis. We’re not really geared up to send them through the post so we’re giving the people who attend on the 19th December the opportunity to buy them first. Any left over will be sold at the next event and so on. If you can’t attend personally then the best thing to do is to contact someone who is coming on the 19th and ask them to purchase one on your behalf, that’s not a problem with us. If there is enough demand we will commission a second run of badges from the manufacturer, everyone who wants one will get one. Cheers…..

Thanks to everyone who came to the Burscough Legion soul night last night, numbers down on our last event but the music was absolutely awesome. Special thanks to our guest DJs Kev Murphy, Carl Farrington and Bob Hitchcock, brilliant sets everyone. You won’t hear better music anywhere around here, a real across the board selection from all the DJs without delving into the over played selections which often characterises events in these parts. Burscough British Legion Lord Street Burscough Lancashire L40 4BZ New Years Eve at Burscough Legion 2021 Lisa and I are not doing the Legion on NYE this year but Glyn Hanford, Derek Smith and Tez Howarth have stepped in to do the night instead. Guest DJs to be announced, the event will run from 8pm till 2am and entry is £5 on the door. A great mix of rare Northern, Modern and Club Classics to bring in the new year, should be a top night.

I don’t think anyone’s mentioned the sad passing of Hedley Lawson last week, a well known figure at soul venues around the country. Hedley was a real character, the tales of his exploits were legendary and he will be missed by so many people. He raised many thousands of pounds for charities over the years and wrote two books including an autobiography. He was also well known for being the older brother of Pete Lawson who is also sadly no longer with us. Hedleys funeral will be held on Friday 19th November at Ormskirk Parish Church at 11am and afterwards at Ormskirk Cricket Club. RIP Hedley, a life lived to the full.
