  1. A lot of people listen to your show, Matt
  2. Can anybody help out here - I have a copy that has 'Payback's a drag' on both sides, stereo and mono - catalogue number 5102-DJ, rather than 5102 listed in the Million Dollars of Rare Soul book including 'There can be a better way'. What's the deal with this? Were there two promo copies, or did '....better way' just make it onto the issue? Assumedly 5102-DJ doesn't book at the same price as 5102.......does it? Cheers, anyone.
  3. So I came across this 45 the other day, and since then can find nothing about it....at all. The label reveals that it's out of Chatsworth, CA and from 1979 - other than that, nada. Here's what it sounds like; https://www.4shared.com/file/5325033/7ec305/natral_ridum.html I'm not sure what to classify this as - modern? Disco? So apologies if it's not 100% relevant to the board. So can anybody help out? Appreciate it!
  4. That's *crap* funk records for you, Dave
  5. Greg Belson posted a post in a topic in Look At Your Box
One assumes it should read as 'James', but the label is marked as Jame T. Horn on both sides. https://www.4shared.com/file/6193425/d9942a...ound_train.html Nice track.
  6. It's a nice tune for sure, but really 3.5K ?? Pounds? Had Keb sold his copy by then, and played his dub of it?
  7. Salem Travelers - 'Wade in the water' on Halo Gospel Nikias - 'Get Jesus on my side' on KB Billy Watkins - 'Judgements comin' on Schnipple Up Jean Johnson Singers - 'Let your love light shine' on Hummingbird Amazing Farmer Singers - 'On fire for Jesus' on HLF Jame T. Horn - 'Glory bound train' on Modo That Lovers of God 45 already mentioned is absolute killer - both sides. And the Kindly Shepherds is great too - appeared on a compilation by Checker in 1967, which is decidedly easier to get hold of than the 45. Plenty of quality modern soul/crossover tracks by Gloster Williams, Voices of Nashville, Together, Rodena Preston, The Pattersons, Michael Orr & the Book of Life, Souls of Solomon, Truth & Devotion etc

  11. Is anybody up on the Jean Johnson Singers 45 on Hummingbird?
  12. I flew out here on September 8th with BA, and there was absolutely no chance of taking any of my records onto the plane as hand luggage. I ended up couriering them over, signed delivery in three padded boxes. They arrived safely the next day. No way were they going in the hold. And they're also extremely strict at immigration at the moment. If you intend to play, you're not native US, and don't have a visa, and they catch you....they will send you straight back on the next plane. LA is probably the strictest US airport I've come across.
  13. Madame Nellie Robinson - 'Viet Nam' on Gospel Corner Wayne Spence & the Smiling Faces - 'Thank God for peace' on Peace.....even though essentially a gospel cut, the song was written about Vietnam first and foremost.
  14. Please PM if you can help, thanks alot!
