  8. You move across the floor with your badges on your chest then jump up and down at the local oldies fest sliding along the floor with your leather soled shoes turning and spinning as they do at oldies doo's singing to the records as the dance floor moves and sways some of the older ones out there have seen some better days then "love you baby" gets put on the next one from the last you walk off from the dance floor because it's just too bloody fast.!
  9. Personally I thought the commitment & the candour of most of the people featured was positive. However I don't get the "Granny Clampit skirts" & bags thing anymore. I believe that people use this code of dress to confirm their affinity to the "Northern Scene." along with the badges and badge festooned holdalls. After Wigan closed we used to say that the badge people evident then really never went there.! However we live in a democracy & people are allowed to dress how they wish, & express themselves accordingly. Regarding the footage, most of it was not new, and the newer footage really didn't give any credence to the current vibrant non oldies Northern scene. We had in the main the 'usual suspects' interviewed, & I would have liked to see some faces from the Wheel onwards as well, an interview of somebody like Brian 45 Phillips would have been interesting. Mention you are into Northern, & most people see the scene & mode of dress as portrayed on this type of footage, which of course is not how it really is.! Finally each to their own, & long live Northern Soul.!!!
  10. O.K. lets have a big round of congratulations for Mike. I know he spends a massive amount of time in order to bring us this site. Good on you Mike.!!
  11. "They turn their heads in pity & confusion wondering why I keep myself locked in seclusion" Freddie Chavez - They'll never no why - Look. Just about sums up the Northern scene from an outsiders viewpoint.!!

  21. I remember these being plentifull & cheap in the early seventies, they know still bring fairly high prices: 1) Patti & the Emblems - Gonna love you a long long time - Kapp Demo (A on either side.) 2) Johnny Howard - The chase is on - Bashie Demo. 3) Joannne courcey - I got the power - Twirl Demo. 4) Charades - Key to my Happiness - MGM Demo. 5) Christine Cooper - Heartaches away my boy - Parkway Demo. And later on two "Modern" ones that were again in quantity, but initially brought high prices: 6) Futures - Party time man - P.I.R. 7) Ace Spectrum - Dont send nobody else - Atlantic.
  22. Another 'Ledgend' passes on.! "She'll come running back" has allways been in my top 5 best ever Soul records (not just N.S.) & I stll have a copy of it which I've just played, & it still sounds as fresh as the day it was recorded. My heartfelt sympathies go out to all Mels family & friends. Mel Britt will be very sadly missed, but his legend will live forever. Rest In Peace mel & keep an eye on us from up there.! Ritchie.

  25. Hello Stephen, B & B was a big Mecca record back in the day. It has been re-issued on a coloured 'Dynamo' label, the originals are all red (issue) or white demos, & are now Rare & sought after. A great record produced I think by Charles Foxx.!
